Fnatic walks over Virtus.Pro in order to reach the semifinals at Katowice

The second quarter final served as a platform to decide on the last semi final spot to be awarded, and Virtus.Pro had to fight it out against fnatic in order to get there.

With the crowd in the back, Virtus.Pro had a sixth player in their pockets, whereas fnatic had a wall of people against them. Nonetheless they were the hot favorites for this tournament, having been strong in the group stages whilst VP have had struggles not only at this tournament but for all of this year so far.

Train was the first map for both teams to meet and fnatic started off already with a strong pistol round. VP - being on T side - lost the subsequent one as well but not without planting the bomb, so the economy would be strong after the third round. The Swedes were intelligent enough to not let the anti-eco rounds get into close quarters and after the third round only had gifted three kills in total to Virtus. They started off 6-0 by winning the inital gun round. After an interesting suicide by JW, VP finally got gifted the entry to make a first round their own, sadly the economic reset followed shortly after. VP were unable to deliver until eventually a second round was accquired and in the following the half could be closed 11-4.

The second pistol round saw a convincing B rush from fnatic that was unanswered at first, but the gun round finally saved VP to make it a 14-5 score board. Unfortunately there was no chance for them to go any further, as fnatic closed it out 16-5.

Inferno already started off poorly for VP with a 4-0 lead for fnatic, that was about to expand as they had won the initial gun round. Unstoppable as they are, especially on a map which holds a 9-2 record for them this year already, Virtus.Pro got  just one tiny round for the first half, but a "yolo"-push from fnatic through banana gifted them a pistol round and some further rounds to work on. Fnatic managed to get themselves to 15 points but VP clawed pack, bringing it to 15-6. With some sick CZ action Robin "flusha" Rönnquist almost made the win happen in an eco round, but the Polish squad would not let go. Ultimately they had to, as fnatic made them run down the clock in front of B and the eventual push onto A was just not coordinated enough. 16-8 was at least a bit stronger than the last map.
