Team Liquid wins the MSI ESWC USA Qualifier #1

Team Liquid qualified for the MSI Electronic Sports World Cup CS:GO Final in Montreal by topping the USA Qualifier.

The championship bracket of the U.S.A qualifier for ESWC was played on May 31st after the top 8 teams out of the preliminary bracket were decided. They were put together with the 8 teams invited by CEVO and competed in a single elimination bracket.

In the best of 4 rounds we saw Cloud9 winning against Luminosity Gaming and Team Liquid eliminating eLevate. Both, Team Liquid and Cloud9 decided their matches with 2–0 for themselves. The Grand Finals ended with 2–1 in favor of Team Liquid, who will now have the chance to win the ESWC in nearly a month.

The first match was played on de_train where Team Liquid and Cloud9 played a strong CT side. Although Team Liquid was leading after 18 rounds with 13 to 5, Cloud9 managed to climb their way up by taking 9 consecutive rounds. But Team Liquid denied them by taking the last three rounds and managed to win the first map with 16–13. However, Cloud9 recovered and demonstrated their strength in the second map on de_overpass with 16 – 6. The final and deciding map of this BO3, de_cache, saw a lot of action. fREAKAZOID had the internet issues and a Cloud9 manager stunna- jumped in as a replacement, however later on DAVEY from affNity replaced stuna and took fREAKAZOID spot. In the end, Team Liquid won with 16–13 led by a great nitr0 who had 31 frags collected on this map.

To this date, Team Liquid will be the 5th team, together with Virtus.Pro, Gamers2, Penta Sports and x6tence, who are invited to the ESWC Final. We will see Team Liquid on the main event which will be held in the SAT and Delta Hotel in Montreal, Canada from July 9th to 12th where all the travel and accommodation costs for the teams will be supported by the hosts.
