Day 1 of the First Person Lover Challenge concludes with LGB eSports overcoming HellRaisers in the lower bracket, while fnatic wins their spot in the grand finals over EnVyUs in a tense best of three.
The first day of the First Person Lover Challenge kicked off with Hellraisers vs Team EnVyUs on de_inferno. Hellraisers tried to retaliate against the French team in the first half 4:11, but EnVy shut them out on their CT side with an additional five rounds, ending the game 16:4 and dropping the Ukrainians down to the lower bracket.
LGB and fnatic faced off in the last first-round match of the upper bracket on Dust 2: while LGB eSports managed to edge out their opponents 8:7 initially, fnatic came back with a vengeance in the second half and closed out on the Norwegians 16:11. LGB managed to comeback in the lower bracket, however, knocking Hellraisers out of the tournament 2:0 on de_inferno and de_mirage.
The finals of the upper bracket saw a clash of titans as the top two CS:GO teams, EnVyUs and fnatic, battled it out in a best of three for a spot in the grand finals. de_overpass was hotly contested right up to the end, going to three overtimes and almost a fourth, but fnatic managed to pull ahead just enough to win the map 25:23.
Cache was equally close, with the two teams trading nearly round-for-round, but the French side powered ahead in the first half with little response from the fnatic. EnVy faltered on their T side however, allowing fnatic to bring it back in two overtimes and win the match.
EnVy will face LGB eSports in the lower bracket tommorow, while fnatic moves on to the grand finals. Stay tuned to Gosugamers for tommorow's match coverage.
