Fnatic takes Clutch Con

After three days of battle with many delays, Fnatic are now the crowned champions of Clutch Con.

With MLG X Games ending only a week ago, everyone was expecting a lot from Clutch Con. X Games were perfectly organized and executed, so the next North American LAN had high expectations set in front of it. Unfortunately, the first day already brought huge issues to the event.

The delays were a few hours long and the whole schedule was twisted around. In the end, viewers were unable to watch most of the matches. There was only a single stream which was covering one match at the time. However, even this stream was jumping around the matches, causing quick swaps during the two live matches for no reason.

The playoffs were a bit better than the group stage, although they also had some delays. In the playoffs, we saw the top eight teams of the group stages fighting for the grand prize of 8,000 USD. Although Counter Logic Gaming surprised everyone by beating the MLG X Games champions, Team LDLC, back in Aspen, here they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by eLevate. Fnatic had slight issues but in the end, they defeated KaBuM 2-1 to advance to the semi-finals. Cloud9 easily walked past Mythic and Liquid also sent Torqued packing home in the other quarter-finals.

Both semi-final matches had the same result of 2-0. Fnatic won against Team Liquid, while Cloud9 also advanced to the finals after beating eLevate. The Grand Final match was one-sided where Fnatic performed on their usual dominant level. They took wins on de_mirage and de_nuke to take their first LAN title of the year.
