Rules Update and Clarification

Hello there nauts, we’ve got some (hopefully good) news for you! Some folks on different social media platforms had a few questions and concerns about the rules and different procedures so we’re here to clarify them for you all.

Some people asked why we have the check-in process, so here's a little bit as to why we have it. Instead of just disqualifying no-shows and not having the check-in process, we have it so that other teams can still get a chance. It'd be unfair if teams take up a spot and not show up while we have another team ready and waiting to play but the chance was stolen from them. The check-in also speeds things up, so we aren't waiting to confirm that people are missing and waiting for 20 minutes to disqualify people from qualifiers.

In order to be part of the bracket, a team needs to checked in. If one of the original 32 teams are not checked in at the start of the tournament, the spot will be given to a reserve team. Said reserve team needs to be checked in to be awarded the spot.

Now, here are all the rules that are going to be officially added:

Disconnects

  • If a player nor a tower have not been killed and a player disconnects from the game, the game will be remade with the same map and nauts picked.

  • If a player disconnects but first blood has been taken or a tower has been killed, the game will be played on as is.

Substitutes

  • In the qualifiers no substitute players are allowed for any team.

  • In the main bracket, teams may have up to 1 substitute player. They must be added to your team on the Awesome Cup website.

  • Using a registered* substitute during the qualifiers will result in disqualification from that qualifier.

  • Using an unregistered* substitute in the qualifiers will result in disqualification from that qualifier as well as the next one; use in the main bracket will cause disqualification of from the main bracket and all prizing to be forfeited.

Late & No Shows

  • If you are unable to find your opponent, report it to an admin through Steam chat. If they are still unable to be contacted by both your team and admins of the Awesome Cup after 10 minutes of the round having started, you will receive a win for the first map. If the opponent is still missing 20 minutes after the round having started, you will be awarded a walkover win.

  • If you or someone from your team needs to leave the computer, you must report it to an admin before leaving, and then you will be provided up to 15 minutes to return. If you have not returned within 15 minutes then you will be forfeited in the bracket.

*Registered players are players that are listed on your team’s information page on the Awesome-Cup.com website.

We hope that these rules clear up any misunderstandings. If you’re still confused as always you can contact the administrators of the tournament through the official Alienware Awesome Cup forum hosted by GosuGamers.net (just click Forum on the top to get to it!). You can also email the head admin if you’d like to be a bit more private in conversation over at [email protected].
