In a recent interview with Esl-radio, Creolophus talks about his former career as a progamer, things he remembers the most and what will happen in his future.
The name Olav ‘Creolophus’ Lundheim is well known throughout the Warcraft III community and even 2 years after his retirement from the scene he is still in the thoughts of many fans. Esl-radio took the time to talk to Creo about the decision for his retirement, his time with 4-Kings, the memories and experiences as a progamer, if he intends on playing Starcraft II and finaly his plans for the future.
-I only intended to be gaming fulltime for a year, so before the summer started I had already found an apartment and sent the formal applications to my school. I had a mandatory military service knocking on my door and 4K had some serious economic problems, so we knew we would probably have to change team pretty soon.
Creo also reveals he had intentions of quitting before he joined 4-Kings due to having a hard time juggling both his education and gaming while at the same time trying to keep up with the long training hours that some other players were putting in.
-When I was in Fnatic at my first year at the university I already felt it was kind of hard to keep competing in WC3L against players that played full-time. Then when 4K made an approach I decided it was better just to either study or play full-time, so already at that point I considered retiring or stepping down.
-I miss the thrill of tournaments and the people I used to meet at tournaments. Since we live in different countries it’s hard to meet outside of wc3 tournaments.
The ex 4-Kings player states that he still follows the scene closely and enjoys watching new strategies and build orders being developed but doesn't watch as much replays as he use to.
As for his future plans, Creo says that he has not planned too far ahead in his life and will aim at finishing one goal at a time. His current goals are finishing his university degree in computer science, getting a job and having a haircut.
When asked about the possibility of playing Starcraft II competitively Creo states he's had his time of glory and would rather let the new generation of gamers have their turn. As for the gameplay, Olav believes he had a fun time playing it and we should have faith in Blizzard in perfecting it.
-Nah, one time is enough! I’m sure I will play sc2 casually, but I will let the young guns with nothing but spare time and motivation in their hands do the competitive gaming
Creolophus: ‘Right now I don’t see myself working in the eSports scene, but never say never!’
With that being said, we wish Creo the best with his future and will hope to see a familiar name return to the eSports scene!
