VCT Champions 2022: Fnatic moves on to the next stage after winning the decider match

100 Thieves was eliminated from Champions after grabbing just a single win in the group stage.

Group D was the last group to complete its standings, as 100 Thieves met up with Fnatic in the Decider Match to see who will head on to the Playoffs, and who will be heading back home. The match between Europe and North America was set to be entertaining for fans.

On Bind, Fnatic immediately showed their prowess as they went on the offensive against 100T and collected a string of wins. By the end of the first half, Fnatic secured an eight-point lead over 100T. The second half saw Fnatic easily carrying over the momentum they experienced in the first half. While 100T tried to mount an opposition, it was game over by round 18 as Fnatic picked up the win with a score of 13-5.

Ascent was more or less the same as Fnatic easily caught up to 100T even though the latter opened the map with a couple of wins on their side. By the end of the first half, Fnatic easily overcame 100T’s defensive with a four-point lead. The second half saw Fnatic right away grabbing the wins, and while 100T tried to claw back from behind, Fnatic sealed the game by round 20 and won it 13-7.

Fnatic became the final team to qualify for Playoffs, and a berth at Volkswagen Arena. 100 Thieves unfortunately will have to head back home to commiserate and strategize for 2023.

VCT Champions Istanbul is happening from 31 August until 18 September in Istanbul, with the Playoffs set to be played in front of a live audience at Volkswagen Arena from 9 September 2022.
