Korean PTR patch reveals golden weapons and new player settings

Inven.co.kr posted preview screenshots from the Overwatch PTR server, showing some of the new player rewards and gameplay settings to arrive with the competitive mode patch later this month.

Overwatch players have been waiting for a ranking system for some time now. Currently, battles can only be conducted in Quick Match and while the mode helps a player level up and shapes his or her matchmaking rating, there isn’t any system in place that actually ranks competitors.

In a recent developer update video, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan talked about some of the improvements the company wants to introduce to their new hit. Apart from general improvements to competitive play like Seasons, a Ranking System and what Blizzard are calling “skill rating”, Kaplan also touched on some of the cosmetic rewards that high-ranked players could unlock, namely golden weapons.

In a PTR sneak peek post from today, Korean esports board Inven.co.kr showcased how aforementioned golden weapons look  (full gallery available below). Each weapon will be unlockable with 300 ranking points and the price will be the same for all heroes. How these ranking points will be obtained is yet to be shown.

A second post on Inven.co.kr shows some new choices in the options menu, adding additional controller, social and custom game settings.
