ESL announces the biggest Overwatch Tournament to date - $100.000 prize money and LAN finals

After two very successful cups post launch the ESL upped their game and announced the biggest Overwatch tournament to date: The Atlantic Showdown.

The ESL Overwatch Atlantic Showdown will be held at this year's gamescom in Cologne. It will feature the four best teams from the North American as well as the four best teams from the European region. With a prize pool of $100.000 the Atlantic Showdown will be the biggest Overwatch tournament to date.

To determine which teams will take part, the ESL has elected to hold open qualifiers. The qualifiers are divided into two phases. In the first phase, that will last 4 weeks and starts on the 27th of June, teams will try to qualify themselves for the second phase, where the 16 best teams in each region will duke it out for eight spots into the main event.

The European qualifiers will be broadcasted every Monday and Tuesday, while the North American qualifiers will be held every Wednesday and Thursday. The casters for the qualifiers will be Jason Kaplan, Leigh "Deman" Smith and Mitch "Uber" Leslie.
