As a lot of tournaments and new teams popped up in the competitive Overwatch scene with release, it has become ever increasingly hard to keep track of everything that happened in a week. To help with that, we are introducing our new feature: The competitive recap.
Released twice every week we will try to congest every tournament and important news that has happened since the last recap. Additionally, we will also highlight smaller player transfers or new teams that didn't warrant their own news post. On Wednesday we will recap everything that has happened from Saturday - Tuesday and on Saturday, we will recap Wednesday – Friday. But without further ado, let's get to the meat of this post: The first recap!
Important News:
VGVN/ONOG Overwatch Invitational announced:
With $15,000 up for grabs the Video Game Voters Network and One Nation of Gamers will be hosting the Overwatch tournament with the biggest prize pool to date.
Blizzard announces partnership with Facebook:
On Monday morning, Blizzard and Facebook announced that they will be working together to give gamers a more social experience. This will encompass Facebook live streaming, as well as being able to log in with or create Battle.net accounts with Facebook Login.
Jeff Kaplan Interview with Eurogamer:
In an Interview with Eurogamer Jeff Kaplan, Overwatch's game director, talks specifics about the upcoming return of ranked play, the net-code discussion and balance changes. Most importantly: A nerf to McCree's "fan the hammer" damage output has been confirmed.
Tournament Recap:
GosuGamers EU Weekly #11 - VODs
In the long awaited return of the GosuGamer's Weeklies, EnVyUs takes the win in dominant fashion with a 3-1 win over REUNITED. The surprise of the tournament has been Northern Gaming Blue, who managed to finish third after taking out nubris and Graviton Surge.
GosuGamers NA Weekly #11 - VODs
In absence of Cloud9 and the European top teams, EnVyUs completes the GosuGamers Weekly Double without dropping a single map in the entirety of the tournament. Team Liquid finishes second, while nubris takes the third place.
In the first edition of ESL's new weekly tournament series and with a record of 368 teams participating, Creation eSports takes the win with a very dominant 3-0 victory over OWKings in the final. Graviton Surge takes the third place, while the Russian surprise packet Prets take home the fourth place.
VGVN/ONOG Overwatch Invitational Qualifier #1:
In the first of two open qualifiers to the VGVN/ONOG Overwatch Invitational both Rogue and nubris qualify for the main event.

Reason Gaming acquires Zaprey got caught:
With the Multiplay I-58 just being mere two months away, it is not surprising that British based organizations are trying to grab promising Overwatch lineups. Reason Gaming acquires a team that was previously known as Zaprey got caught. The lineup looks as follows:

Baskonia eSports announced their Overwatch division:
Baskonia eSports, the eSports division of the Spanish professional Basketball club Saski Baskonia, who are third in the All-time Liga ACB table behind FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, announced the acquisition of an Overwatch team. The team, that was formerly known as "We are Justice", will feature the following players:
