A Viewers Guide to the GosuGamers EU Weekly #10

Overwatch Gosu “GosuGamers” Gamers

Saturday is cup day! While this week's cup might not be as stacked as last week's European Weekly, it should still provide for an entertaining evening of Overwatch action. We have prepared a small viewers guide for your pleasure once again.

16 Teams will battle it out today for a prizepool of at least $480 USD (which can be increased again by donating on Matcherino.com and using the coupon code "ggeu10" to donate a free dollar!), honor, glory and even more importantly: GosuGamers ranking points!

Predictions

In order to help you get a better understanding of the teams participating and help you figure out who to root for we created predictions for this time around. Note that the predictions are based on the participants that are in the cup at the release of the news. Due to the nature of the cup, teams might drop out or join on short notice.

Favorites:

IDDQD

Prediction: 1st

Again, in any tournament IDDQD features currently they are the team to beat. With 49 competitive wins in a row its hard to argue otherwise. That being said, they aren't looking as dominant as they did before. Team Unknown managed to do quite well against them yesterday in the King of the Watch event. If Chipshajen, Mendokusaii and TviQue perform to their usual standards it will be hard for any team to dethrone them, though.

Contenders:

REUNITED.gg

Prediction: 2nd

REUNITED.gg go into this tournament as the likely contender in the final against IDDQD. While previously being a weak link to the team, TwoEasy stepped up his game massively in the last weeks, giving them a very capable offensive line. Whether it is their week to finally take a game, or even a map, off IDDQD is too early to say. But I fancy their chances more than before with how the meta developed. While their star players, with the exception of vallutaja, aren't as strong as IDDQD's, the team overall seems more balanced and with fewer weaker links.

IMPULSE 11

Prediction: 3rd

IMPULSE 11 managed to surprise quite a few people with taking a map against REUNITED.gg. The swedish based lineup will hope for a slightly easier bracket this time around and improve upon last weeks performance. If Zebbosaii and iddqd are on form, i can see them going to the final and making it a close game against whoever they face. They are certainly a team to keep in mind!

Teams to look out for:

Melty eSports Club

Prediction: 4th

Melty seems to regain form, as their dominant victory on last weeks Gamers Assembly showcased. However, against SG-1 they didnt look all to convincing. If that result was a one-off I would predict them to make the semifinals. This week is the one where Melty has to show up, and show that they still can hang with the top teams. If they have yet another underwhelming showing, it would at least be safe to say that they shouldn't be considered to be one of the top teams anymore.

Luminosity.gg

Prediction: 5th-8th

Just as last week, Luminosity is the only North American team to show up for the European Weekly. However, their results last week showed quite clearly that they aren't yet ready to beat the top teams and I don't rate their chances too highly. Even with a less stacked cup compared to last week, I don't think they are capable of beating any of the top teams and thus won't be able to make it to the semis. If everything clicks for them, they might be able to surprise though.
