March 17th Patch Notes: Zarya buffs and a bunch of experimentation

Overwatch Gosu “GosuGamers” Gamers

The Overwatch team proves again how much they look into community feedback witht this latest balance patch. Reverting and tweaking some changes from the previous patch.

We got another patch today, after it seemed yesterday (usual patch day) that we wouldn't be as lucky this week.

A quick rundown on some changes:

  • Quick Melee damage decreased from 50-30
  • Bastion Tank Mode duration reduced from 10 seconds to 8 seconds
  • Genji health increased from 150-200, Shurikens had their damage nerfed by 20% though
  • Hanzo Scatter Arrow Fragments will no longer be calculated as a headshot against the enemy player.
  • Mei primary fire lowered time to freeze by 15%
  • Zarya Particle Cannon increased the minimum damage by 25%
  • Zenyatta's Discord Orb can now be removed by immunity effects (Cryo-Freeze, Zaraya barriers, Zenyatta Transcendence.
  • Junkrat's RIP-tire health was lowered down to 100 again.

Looking forward to seei how the changes impact the competitive scene. A lot of players were saying Genji was still too strong after the hit point reduction a while back, maybe this damage nerf is what he needed to put him at a balanced state. The biggest winner is most likely Zarya, who got buffed damage as well as utility.
