Team Nemesis pull a Hail Mary ahead of the most important stretch of the season.
Singapore-based organisation
Team Nemesis have made sweeping changes to their Dota 2 roster, replacing much of their Southeast Asian core with international players in a last-ditch move. The decision comes as the team approach a pivotal mid-year period, with major events looming, including the game's annual world championship.
Team Nemesis confirmed that the new roster will be headlined by prominent Brazilian coach Filipe “Astini” Astini, who notably led
PARIVISION through a successful debut season in 2025.
The overhaul also introduces an up-and-rising Moldovan carry Vladislav “Rubikon155” Gaidau, Brazilian veterans Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos and
João “4nalog” Giannini, and North America’s
Luke “YamSun” Wang to the lineup–joining the squad’s only retained player,
Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong.
This also means Nemesis have parted ways with Worawit “Q” Mekchai,
Jaunuel “Jaunuel” Arcilla,
Mc Nicholson “Mac” Villanueva, and
Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon. The organisation had also bid farewell to South Korean coach
Taewon “March” Park over a week earlier.

Why have Team Nemesis changed their Dota 2 roster?
Nemesis have moved away from their Filipino and Southeast Asian core in favour of an international line-up, aiming to give themselves “the strongest possible chance” to “compete at the highest level” in upcoming marquee events–namely the Dota 2 Esports World Cup and The International 2026.
Both events are set to take place between July and August, with qualifiers beginning much earlier in June. With no likely direct invites, Nemesis will have to undergo the strenuous qualifier process. For now, it remains unclear whether Nemesis will compete in SEA or relocate to other regions, given their now-international roster.
Team Nemesis’ history in Dota 2
Since entering the scene last year, Nemesis have struggled to make a lasting impact. Although they qualified for The International 2025 in an impressive debut, they finished at the bottom of the standings and have since declined, suffering consecutive losses in SEA qualifiers.
This year, they have been overshadowed by regional peers such as
REKONIX and
Execration. Their only notable appearance came at PGL Wallachia Season 7, where they again finished last.
These lacklustre results prompted a decisive, high-risk overhaul in hopes of building new chemistry ahead of a critical qualification period.
The line-up change in Nemesis could sting for SEA enthusiasts, especially as local stars like 23savage are now teamless ahead of the crucial period. Additionally, competition in the region may decline with fewer powerhouses in the scene.
Despite its now international roster, Nemesis reassured fans that the organisation remains committed to the SEA region in the long term, stating that the current shift is primarily due to “time constraints”.
That said, fans can get an early look at how the new line-up fares, as the team are already easing into competition at EPL Season 37–an online Tier 3 event based in Europe. So far, they have suffered a series loss against Russian stack Aim Possible in their debut match, but there is still room for improvement as the event runs until 12 May.
