Umamusume: Pretty Derby
Release date: 26 June, 2025 (worldwide)
Developer: Cygames
Platforms: iOS, Android, Windows PC
Who are the new trainees coming to Umamusume: Pretty Derby in May?
Mejiro Palmer
Banner dates: 10-20 May (UTC)
Umamusume's global version will be getting its fifth Mejiro umamusume as the first trainee banner for the month of May. Mejiro Palmer is a Front Runner specialising in Medium and Long races on Turf. She also has stat growth bonuses for Speed (10%), Stamina (10%), and Guts (10%).
Mejiro Palmer's unique skill ‘Keep Pushing Ahead’ recovers her stamina and increases her velocity in the second half of the race if she is able to position herself toward the front from the start of the race.
Mejiro Palmer's innate skills include ‘Playtime’s Over!', ‘Front Runner Straightaways’, and ‘Keeping the Lead’. She can also innately learn the skills ‘Early Lead’, ‘See Ya Later!’, ‘Long Shot’, and ‘Vanguard Spirit’ when her Potential Levels are raised. In addition, she can also get skill hints for ‘Front Runner Savvy’ and ‘Sympathy’ from her career events.
Mejiro Palmer is also the second trainee in Umamusume's global version after Silence Suzuka to learn the ‘Runaway’ skill, which lets her attempt to gain an especially large lead from the start of the race until the finish line as long as she has enough Stamina. With that said, she is unable to learn this skill in the current ‘Trackblazer’ scenario, which disables career events. If you want to give Mejiro Palmer the Runaway skill, you will have to train her in the ‘URA Finale’ or ‘Unity Cup’ scenarios, at least until a new scenario releases.
Wedding Curren Chan and Wedding Fine Motion
Banner dates: 18-29 May (UTC)
The Wedding versions of Curren Chan and Fine Motion will be released alongside the new ‘The Promised Hour: Silk & Three Riddles’ Story Event on 18 May (UTC).
Wedding Curren Chan
Wedding Curren Chan, just like her original version, will be a Pace Chaser specialised for Sprint races on Turf. With that said, she can also be shifted to becoming a Front Runner due to her ‘B’ Aptitude with that running style. She also has stat growth bonuses for Speed (10%), Power (10%), and Wit (10%).
Wedding Curren Chan's unique skill ‘One True Color’ makes it easier for her to break out of the pack when positioned toward the front with 350m or less remaining and with another runner close behind.
Wedding Curren Chan's innate skills include ‘Hesitant Front Runners’, ‘Pace Chaser Corners’, and ‘Intimidate’. She can also innately learn the skills ‘Sprinting Gear’, ‘Adored by All’, ‘Pace Chaser Savvy’, and ‘Turbo Sprint’ when her Potential Levels are raised. In addition, she can also get skill hints for ‘Frenzied Late Surgers’, ‘Sprint Corners’, ‘Disorient’, and ‘Sprinting Gear’ from her career events.
Wedding Fine Motion
Wedding Fine Motion, just like her original version, will be a Pace Chaser specialised for Mile and Medium races on Turf. You can also run her in Long races or as an End Closer with the right Sparks as she has ‘C’ Aptitudes for that distance and running style, respectively. She also has stat growth bonuses for Guts (10%) and Wit (20%).
Wedding Fine Motion's unique skill ‘Best Day Ever’ increases her velocity if well-positioned late-race on the final corner or later, with an added increase to her acceleration if there's still a large distance to the finish line.
Wedding Fine Motion's innate skills include ‘Firm Conditions’, ‘Head-On’, and ‘Shifting Gears’. She can also innately learn the skills ‘Mile Corners’, ‘Changing Gears’, ‘Fall Runner’, and ‘Neck and Neck' when her Potential Levels are raised. She can also learn a ton of skills from her career events, including ‘Pace Chaser Corners’, ‘All I’ve Got', ‘Mile Straightaways’, ‘Prepared to Pass’, ‘Standing By’, ‘Up-Tempo’, ‘Straight Descent’, ‘Updrafters’, ‘Preferred Position’, and ‘Head-On’.
Inari One
Banner dates: 28 May-7 June (UTC)
Inari One finally completes the famed ‘Heisei Three’, a trio of characters that also includes Oguri Cap and Super Creek that is based on the three real-life racehorses that spearheaded the late-80s/early-90s boom in Japanese horse racing. Inari One is a very versatile trainee, able to run on both Turf and Dirt tracks, as well as Mile, Medium, and Long races. She is primarily an End Closer, though you can also run her as either a Pace Chaser or Late Surger. Inari One has stat growth bonuses for Stamina (10%) and Power (20%).
Inari One's unique skill ‘Now We’re Cruisin'!' greatly increases her velocity when competing for the lead if positioned in the midpack or further for the first half of the race.
Inari One's innate skills include ‘Tail Held High’, ‘End Closer Straightaways’, and ‘Familiar Ground’. She can also innately learn the skills ‘Winter Runner’, ‘Tail Nine’, ‘Straightaway Spurt’, and ‘Master of the Sands' when her Potential Levels are raised. Her career events also grant her skill hints for ‘Ramp Up’, ‘Forward, March!’, ‘Tail Held High’, ‘Eager’, ‘All I’ve Got', and ‘Fighting Spirit’.
