PUBG: Blindspot ceases operations only two months after Early Access launch.
KRAFTON’s PUBG: Blindspot, a free-to-play spin-off from the PUBG universe, has shut down just two months after its release. Developer ARC Team cited challenges in maintaining the level of quality envisioned for its Early Access phase, ultimately leading to the decision to close the game on 30 March, 2026.

Why did PUBG:Blindspot shut down?
In a Steam update, the studio stated that “player experience” was the biggest factor behind this major decision, as it ceases operations following a rough start. “The team has been exploring multiple ways to improve the experience and move the game forward. However, after careful consideration, we have come to the conclusion that we are no longer able to sustainably provide the level of experience we set out to deliver through Early Access,” the update reads.
What is PUBG: Blindspot?
PUBG: Blindspot was an experimental take on the PUBG universe, introducing a 5v5 tactical shooter with a unique top-down perspective. It aimed to infuse deeper strategy and positioning elements into the gameplay.
What was the reception to PUBG: Blindspot?
PUBG: Blindspot launched in Early Access on February 21 to mixed reactions. Some praised its interesting concept and potential to grow into a new and popularised genre. However, others criticized its server instability and matchmaking issues, citing a lack of players to sustain matches, which led to frustratingly long queue times. Players also felt that the game lacked content, with limited game modes, maps, and other features.
Overall, PUBG: Blindspot was praised for its bold experimental approach but lacked the marketing push needed to gain traction in the market.
While it may not be entirely surprising that the game struggled, its shutdown less than two months after launch is still disheartening for its supporters. The game became unplayable as of 30 March, 2026.
