Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.3's best Lucia build, teams, and combat guide

Best for Rupture teams, Lucia will be a great support for the newer and upcoming Agents released since 2.0.

Lucia, the newest Ether Support from Spook Shack has arrived with Zenless Zone Zero’s Version 2.3, and she’s here to amp up multiple Rupture teams! That means agents Yixuan, Manato, and upcoming agent Yidhari are all going to benefit from having Lucia in their team.

If you’re looking to add her to your roster and would like to know how to maximise her potential, we’ve got you covered! In this guide, we’ll discuss her kit, some tips on how to best use her combat potential, and then the best build and teammates for her as well.

How to play Lucia

Lucia is a support and buffer with a kit built around her Dream Points, which fuel her ability to enhance allies, trigger Aftershocks, and enter her powerful Dream State. She shines in Rupture teams, where her Sheer Force buffs directly translate to massive damage boosts.

Managing Dream Points and entering Dream State

Lucia’s whole playstyle revolves around Dream Points. They empower her strongest attacks, trigger team buffs, and keep her in Dream State, so managing them is the key to her performance.

She starts each fight with 60 Dream Points and gains more through her attacks. A quick combo using her EX Special followed by a full basic combo gets her to 100 Dream Points, instantly activating Dream State. This also triggers Ether Veil: Wellspring, boosting all allies’ Max HP by 5% for 40 seconds; great for both survivability and Rupture scaling.

Buffing allies with Harmony and Darkbreaker

Once Dream State is active, Lucia’s Whim attacks turn into Harmony attacks that hit harder and trigger Darkbreaker, a buff that boosts the whole squad. Darkbreaker adds Sheer Force based on Lucia’s Max HP (up to 900 at 24,000 HP) and gives everyone 30% extra Crit Damage.

Manage your Dream Points to keep Lucia's buffs up for longer.

Keeping buffs up with Aftershocks

While Dream State is active, Lucia spends Dream Points to trigger Aftershocks, powerful follow-up attacks that scale with her Max HP.

  • Every time an ally hits an enemy, an Aftershock activates, using 25 Dream Points.
  • It has an 8-second cooldown, so she can usually trigger around four before running out.
  • Each Aftershock or Harmony attack refreshes Dreamer’s Nursery Rhyme, a 20% DMG buff that lasts 12 seconds.

To keep your team’s buffs up, don’t spend Dream Points too fast. Pacing them helps you maintain Aftershocks and Nursery Rhyme all fight long.

Starlight Convergence (Ultimate)

Lucia’s Ultimate, Starlight Convergence, ties her whole kit together. It deals AoE damage, heals allies, and keeps Dream State flowing.

  • Healing Field: Restores 1.6% of Lucia’s Max HP per second to allies and lingers for 4 seconds after leaving.
  • Survivability: Gives Lucia anti-interrupt, 40% damage reduction, and lets her survive a fatal hit at 1 HP.
  • Dream Interaction:
    • Instantly grants 100 Dream Points if she’s not in Dream State.
    • Automatically re-enters Dream State after it ends.
    • Extends Ether Veil by 32 seconds if it’s already active.

Use it to stay in Dream State longer, extend buffs, and heal your team during tougher fights.

Recommended combat rotation/gameplay loop:

  1. Start of Battle:
    • If you have enough energy, open with EX Special + Basic (5th hit) to enter Dream State immediately.
    • Otherwise, use a full basic attack chain first to build Dream Points and energy.
  2. During Dream State:
    • Use Harmony moves to trigger Darkbreaker and Dreamer’s Nursery Rhyme.
    • Stay off-field while allies attack. Lucia’s Aftershocks will trigger automatically, refreshing buffs.
  3. When Dream Points Run Out:
    • Use EX Special + Basic (5th hit), Defensive Assist + EX, or Ultimate to re-enter Dream State and restart the cycle.
  4. During Stun Phases:
    • If Dream Points are low, perform EX Special and a 5th Basic before a Chain Attack.
    • Use manual chain attacks to avoid prematurely triggering the stun and maintain your rotation.

Skill priority

Among these skills, Lucia doesn't need her dodge upgraded.
  1. As always, Lucia’s Core Skill is the most important thing to prioritise. This will increase the DMG buff she provides.
  2. An equally important thing to focus on would be the Special Attack, because upgrading this skill will also increase the Sheer Force buff she gives to teammates.
  3. Then, go for her Chain Attack (Ultimate) for stronger healing and Ether Veil extension.
  4. The next skill that  by her Assist, for the Daze that the Defensive Assist provides.
  5. You can actually skip out entirely on her Dodge, although upgrading her Basic Attack increases her Aftershock multipliers, so you can go for that as last priority.

Stat and build focus

Lucia’s performance scales with initial Max HP, not bonus HP gained mid-fight.

  • Target: 24,000 Max HP for 900 Sheer Force.
  • Drive Discs:
    • Use triple 30% HP main stat discs (slots 4, 5, 6).
    • With 2 HP Drive Disc pieces (+10%) and Lucia’s signature (+30%), you’ll reach somewhere close to 100% bonus HP.
  • Substats: Aim for +9 to 10 HP% rolls across discs. Flat HP is decent filler (0.5 HP%).
  • Without Signature W-Engine: Aim for 22,000 HP (800 Sheer Force buff).

Best W-engines

Dreamlit Hearth is the best W-engine for Lucia, but there are a few other options to substitute it.

Dreamlit Hearth (Recommended)

  • This is Lucia's signature W-engine. It boosts the equipper’s Energy Regen. Activating or extending Ether Veil grants all squad members increased DMG and max HP for a duration. Repeated triggers reset the timer.

Unfettered Game Ball

  • When the equipper’s attack triggers an Attribute Counter, all allies gain 12% increased CRIT Rate against that enemy for 12 seconds. Effects of the same name don’t stack.

Weeping Cradle

  • While off-field, increases Energy Regen by 0.6 per second. The equipper’s attacks boost all allies’ DMG against the struck target by 10% for 3 seconds, rising by 1.7% every 0.5 seconds up to an extra 10.2%. Repeated triggers refresh the duration only.

Kaboom the Cannon

  • When any ally lands a hit, all squad members gain 2.5% ATK for 8 seconds, stacking up to four times. Each unit can contribute one stack, and durations are tracked separately.

Reverb-Mark III

  • Using a Chain Attack or Ultimate increases all allies’ ATK by 8% for 10 seconds. Can trigger once every 20 seconds. Effects of the same name don’t stack.

Best Drive Disc set

Aim for hitting HP stats for Lucia because this is an important multiplier for her buffs.

Moonlight Lullaby (4 pc.) + Yunkui Tales (2 pc.)

  • Moonlight Lullaby provides buffs when Lucia uses her EX Special Attack or Ultimate, while the 2 pc. Yunkui Tales will add HP to Lucia's stats.

Moonlight Lullaby (4 pc.) + Swing Jazz (2 pc.)

  • Alternatively, you can equip a 2-piece Swing Jazz set for extra Energy Regen, especially if those pieces have stronger sub-stats.

Best teams for Lucia

Lucia buffs the Sheer Force of Rupture agents like Yixuan and Manato.

Lucia shines in Rupture-focused teams, where her buffs to HP and Sheer Force can significantly boost overall damage. She works best alongside a Rupture DPS and an off-field Stun unit to keep enemies vulnerable while she supports.

Lucia Premium Rupture Team

Team Composition

  • Support: Lucia
  • Rupture DPS: Yixuan
  • Stun: Ju Fufu
  • Bangboo: Belion

Bangboo Alternatives: Devilboo, Paperboo, Resonaboo, Knightboo

Lucia’s ideal setup focuses on maximising Rupture damage while maintaining uptime on buffs. Yixuan brings strong, consistent Rupture damage, while Ju Fufu provides Stun support to keep enemies open for Yixuan’s attacks. Belion is a strong Bangboo choice for Rupture-heavy compositions, though other options can also work well depending on your build.

Lucia Budget Rupture Team

  • Support: Lucia
  • Rupture DPS: Manato
  • Stun: Pulchra
  • Bangboo: Miss Esme

Bangboo Alternatives: Booressure, Sumoboo, Exploreboo, Knightboo

This setup is a solid option for players without S-Rank characters. Manato is currently the only A-Rank Rupture unit, making him a reliable partner for Lucia. Pulchra adds accessible Stun support to help maintain pressure in fights, while Miss Esme will help out with the team heals, which is crucial for Manato, who regularly consumes HP to deal more damage.

Alternatively, if we want to buff Manato’s damage more, we can also add Lucy in the mix as another support, instead of Pulchra. Lucy provides some flat DMG buffs, although not the most optimal since her buffs don’t do anything to Sheer Force.
