Genshin Impact Version 5.8’s best Ineffa build guide

The mysterious robot Ineffa is ready to shock the battlefield!

Ineffa is finally here, and with her debut comes a new elemental reaction: Lunar-charged. But before we get to the nitty gritty of this unique elemental reaction, here are some important pointers:

Before pulling for Ineffa, some things to consider

Ineffa is a 5-star Electro polearm character who provides great off-field damage while also giving some shielding, making her a must-have introductory character to build and slot into your teams in anticipation of Nod-Krai.

However, given that Ineffa is the first–and so far only–Nod-Krai character to join Genshin Impact, there are some things you need to consider before pulling for her:

  • Ineffa’s main synergies are not yet available, given that she has been released before Nod-Krai. She can't unleash her full potential without Nod-Krai specific gear and characters to support.
  • There aren't any characters who fully synergise with Ineffa yet.

But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pull for her, as Ineffa still has some benefits:

  • We’re one patch away from Nod-Krai, meaning that the next possible new characters to debut with the patch may have a huge chance of synergising with Ineffa
  • Ineffa still provides Elemental Mastery buffs to the entire party
  • She can easily maintain a 100% uptime on her construct, Birgitta

What is Lunar-charged?

Lunar-charged is a new elemental reaction for the Electro element, but it is exclusive to characters with the Moonsign Benediction talent. It is triggered when Electro interacts with Hydro.

Upon triggering, a thundercloud will appear that will continuously strike Electro DMG to nearby enemies affected by both Hydro and Electro. The DMG dealt by these thunder strikes has a unique calculation method, as it also deals critical damage–the only reaction to do so in-game.

Lunar-charged also takes into consideration the Elemental Mastery and Crit stats of the contributing characters (aka the Electro character with the Moonsign Benediction, and the Hydro character supporting the reaction).

Ineffa’s kit explained

Ineffas kit revolves around her ability to provide off-field support with Birgitta. As such, her bread and butter is her skill Cleaning Mode: Carrier Frequency. Upon triggering her skill, Ineffa will be able to deal a single instance of AoE Electro damage, activate her Optical Flow Shield Barrier, and summon her construct, the Multipurpose Smart Assistance Unit, Birgitta

Birgitta will be able to deal Electro DMG in an AoE through intervals, while Ineffa’s shield will absorb DMG based on Ineffa’s ATK, and also absorb Electro DMG with 250% effectiveness.

Meanwhile, Ineffa’s burst, Supreme Instruction: Cyclonic Exterminator, works to keep Birgitta in the field. Besides dealing AoE Electro DMG, the burst will refresh Birgitta’s uptime, allowing it to remain on-field for a longer period.

Since Ineffa is an Electro character, she thrives on dealing elemental reactions, specifically Lunar-charged. Her A1 passive specifically gives Ineffa’s Birgitta a buff when Lunar-charged is triggered, this being:

  • When a thunder cloud created by Lunar-charged is active, Birgitta will unleash an additional AoE Electro DMG attack equal to 65% of Ineffa’s ATK stat.

And since one of Ineffa’s important stats is Elemental Mastery, her A4 passive takes on more of a supportive edge:

  • Upon triggering Ineff’s burst, all members of the party will gain the Parameter Permutation effect, which increases Elemental Mastery by 6% of Ineffa’s ATK for 20 seconds.

Meanwhile, Ineffa’s Moonsign Benediction, a unique passive to Nod-Krai characters, will provide this effect:

  • When a party member triggers an Electro-charged reaction, it will be converted to Lunar-charged. The base damage of Lunar-charged will increase by 0.7% with every 100 ATK Ineffa has, with a maximum of 14%.

As such, talent priority for Ineffa should be: Skill, Burst, Normal Attack

Ineffa’s best gear

Weapons

Obviously, Ineffa’s best weapon is her signature 5-star polearm Fractured Halo, which provides a whopping 606 Base ATK at max level and an additional 66.2% Crit DMG increase. The weapon’s passive is also tailor-made for Ineffa, which gives a 24% increase on ATK for 20 seconds once an Elemental Skill or Burst is triggered. Additionally, Ineffa will gain the Electrifying Edict effect for 20 seconds when she unleashes her shield, which will allow nearby party members to deal 40% more Lunar-charged DMG.

But if you’re not looking to spend your hard-earned primogems on the weapon banner, here are some good alternatives:

  • Staff of the Scarlet Sands (5-star, Gacha)–Has a rather low base ATK, but makes up for it with a balanced 44.1% Crit Rate increase. The passive is tailored more for a DPS approach, as the equipping character gains up to 104% of their Elemental Bonus as ATK. Additionally, the Dream of the Scarlet Sands effect will trigger when unleashing a Skill, allowing the equipping character to gain up to 56% of their elementary as bonus ATK. The effect has a maximum of three stacks.
  • Symphonist of Scents (5-star, Gacha)–This polearm has a slightly higher base ATK compared to Fractured Halo at 608, but still provides a 66.2% Crit DMG increase. The passive also aims to provide copious amounts of ATK increase when the equipping character is off-field. However, Ineffa cannot enjoy the full effect this weapon promises with Sweet Echoes, as she is not able to heal.
  • Ballad of the Fjords (4-star, Gacha)–A more supportive choice, this polearm has a 510 base ATK and 27.6% Crit Rate. Definitely smaller compared to the first two options, but what you’re looking to get is its passive, which provides up to 240% Elemental Mastery increase when there are at least three different Elemental Types in your party–a condition that is easy to achieve for Ineffa.
  • Calamity Queller (5-star, Gacha)–An option to consider if you’re lacking in ATK, as this polearm has a base ATK of 741, and also provides an additional 16.5% ATK. The passive also provides an Elemental DMG bonus of up to 24%, while also allowing the equipping character to gain up to 6.4% ATK increase up to six times upon obtaining the Consummation effect. Additionally, the effect’s ATK increase will double when the equipping character is off-field.

Artifacts

Since Ineffa is yet to receive an artifact set that’s made for her kit, players can make do with these options until Nod-Krai debuts:

  • Tenacity of the Milelith–provides a 20% HP increase at 2-piece, and at 4-piece will give a 20% ATK increase to the entire party, and increased Shield Strength for three seconds when an Elemental Skill hits an opponent.
  • Gilded Dreams–Increases Elemental Mastery by 80 at 2-piece, and at 4-piece will, within eight seconds of triggering an Elemental reaction, prove the character equipping with buffs based on the Elemental Type of the other party members.
    • ATK is increased by 14% for each party member whose elemental type is similar to the equipping character.
    • Elemental Mastery is increased by 50 for every party member with a different element.

Main stats should be:

  • Sands: ATK% / Energy Recharge
  • Goblet: ATK% / Elemental Mastery
  • Circlet: Crit Rate / Crit Damage

While the substats to look for are Energy Recharge, Crit Rate/DMG, ATK%, and Elemental Mastery.

Ineffa’s best teams

Since Ineffa primarily works best in teams composed of Electro and Hydro, here are the best characters she can work well with:

  • Main DPS: Neuvillette (Hydro), Clorinde (Electro), Ifa (Anemo)
  • Hydro support: Furina, Yelan, Xinqiu
  • Additional support: Xilonen (Geo), Kaedehara Kazuha (Anemo)
  • Flexible (can take on SubDPS/Support roles, interchangeable with additional support): Raiden Shogun (Electro), Mizuki (Anemo), Sucrose (Anemo), Ororon (Electro), Fischl (Electro).

Ineffa will take on the role of either DPS or SubDPS, depending on the characters you choose to team her up with.

It’s important to consider that Ineffa works best off-field, so characters with on-field constructs or attacks are a must. Electro-charged, and therefore, Lunar-charged should be the forefront to the damage dealt, while support characters provide Elemental Mastery/ATK buffs to the entire party.
