A VALORANT Leaker claims that Riot and Tencent are releasing an animated VALORANT movie in 2025.
A VALORANT leaker has reported that a VALORANT movie is officially in the works. The movie will be animated much like Netflix’s Arcane, and is currently in development at both Riot Games and Tencent. According to the leaker, the movie is set to premiere in 2025 with its first teaser trailer airing on October 13, 2024.
Kingdom Laboratories, a VALORANT leaker on Twitter, reported that a VALORANT movie is currently in development in China by Tencent. The leaker affirmed that the movie will be different from Riot’s other animated series Arcane, and instead feature animation that looks more similar to this older game cinematic:
A VALORANT movie is not a terribly surprising development from Riot, considering that the success of Arcane - as well as its long development cycle - could have prompted the company to greenlight more adaptations of its work with immediacy. Arcane garnered acclaim from fans and critics alike when it premiered on Netflix, and managed to reach new audiences that hadn’t even touched League of Legends before. If Riot can replicate that success with VALORANT, it has a surefire hit on its hands.
Kingdom Laboratories announced that the movie was in the works by linking to a livestream on YouTube of its first trailer, which is set to go live on October 13, 2024. Whether the leaker knows the release date of the movie’s trailer so far in advance is doubtful, however. Riot has a history of working with different Western studios for VALORANT cinematics, so working with a Chinese studio would also be a departure for the company.
Riot Games has not officially responded to these leaks, so fans will have to wait and cross their fingers for now.
