Invasion-MUFC denied Vici Gaming their first ever title in a nail-biter five game series. MUFC will be walking away with $500 while Vici will have to settle for $300. The Dream Package will see another day as the number of people in the RC channel was a mere 200 short of the expected amount.

It took Invasion-MUFC all four games to defeat Vici Gaming in the grand final of the Netolic Pro League 2. As the winner of the tournament, MUFC will be walking away $500 richer. Vici Gaming on the other hand, despite a good run throughout the tournament, failed to secure their first ever title since formation.

Despite having a one game advantage, the Malaysians were treated to a shock early in the day due to a dominating performance by VG in game two. MUFC bounced back in the second game but suffered a 14 minute-gg in the third. MUFC's endurance through the last few hours paid off in the final game as they took a convincing win over the Chinese.

Unfortunately for the viewers in the RaidCall channel, the number of people in the room did not meet the expected amount by Netolic and therefore, the Dream Package will be kept for another day. The initial number was 5,000 and it was reduced to 4,000 and lastly 3,000 before the games ended. The peak amount was slightly below 2800.

Match report

Game one

One game advantage for MUFC coming from the winner bracket.

Game two

Vici Gaming was off to a blazing start, picking up the First Blood and heavily pressuring down the Malaysian Juggernaut and Dragon Knight in the laning phase. However, MUFC bounced back when VG dived for the Keeper of the Light at the cost of three due to a rotation from the Dragon Knight.

A lot of kills were traded between the two teams before the 10th minute mark and although MUFC was up by two kills, VG was still in the lead attributing to the farm on Lifestealer, Queen of Pain and Weaver. The first big fight broke out when VG was going for MUFC's tier-one tower in the mid lane and sloppy timing by MUFC to defend the tower allowed VG to even the kill score at 10-10.

VG, propelled by Cty's Queen of Pain continued their dominance in map movement all throughout the mid-game, pressuring enemy towers and denying their own.

In a desperate attempt to regain the lead, MUFC challenged Roshan and despite getting caught in a bad position to begin the skirmish, MUFC's tanky heroes outlasted VG and won the battle at the Rosh pit. However, DK gave away the Aegis two minutes later in a push attempt gone wrong.

VG smashed through the next battle on the top lane and took down MUFC's barracks. After a 15 minute-pause due to Internet issues from the Chinese side, VG took down Roshan and the game shortly after.

Game three

Dejavu started out game three as both teams once against clashed at the 0 minute mark on the top rune, however, there were no casualties this time. The first casualty was given away by ZSMJ at the top lane where he actually escaped at 80 hp, but came back and died to Lina. ZSMJ also gave away the second blood to perfectly chained stuns 8 minutes in.

While VG was busy trying to stop Anti-Mage from dying for the fourth time, Lone Druid took down the tier-one tower at the bottom lane and a few kills along with it.

Creep kills wise, MUFC was the clear winner in this category with Queen of Pain (103), Lone Druid (99) and Sven (76) in oppose to Magnus, VG's highest farmer sitting at 69 creeps at 18 minutes.

VG pulled off an impressive play in the Rosh pit using Cogs to isolate Roshan and snatch the Aegis. However, VG did lose the Aegis and four heroes in the process. VG called gg as MUFC were scrambling mid.

Game four

The tanky strat was what VG opted for and they were quick to pick up the First Blood before the creep spawn as they cornered WinteR's Rubick between the safety of his tier-one and tier-two.

The laning phase of game four was rather quiet up till the 6th minute mark when both teams traded their tier-one towers on opposite side of the map. MUFC however, started crumbling as the game headed towards mid-game, constantly getting picked off by the Chaos Knight and Io combo.

MUFC's real downfall was during their smoke gank initiation in the Dire jungle which resulted in a team wipe. WinteR called the gg 14 minutes in.

Game five

The laning phase of game 5 was particularly quiet with both teams hesitating to go on each other in the trilane versus trilane situation. Considering VG was so passive in their trilane, Visage smoked towards the top lane and secured Batrider the first kill of the game against Gyrocopter. Gyrocopter died a second time shortly after.

VG realized that they could not enter the mid-game separated due to MUFC's superior ganking and split pushing heroes and thus, gathered on the top lane for a push. They successfully took down the tier-one tower and headed mid, but were met with strong defense from MUFC.

VG's persistence to group up was detrimental to the farm of the team and they started losing their edge, taking down towers at the cost of their own heroes. Soon enough, VG was unable to push anymore due to MUFC's lead in gold and experience hence, they stayed and farmed in the comfort of their base towers.

35 minutes into the game, MUFC had had enough and throttled bot. They were successful in taking down the bottom barracks, the Roshan and shortly after, the middle barracks. Vici called gg as they failed to secure their first ever title.
