The Prime protoss Hyun Woo "Creator" Jang can call himself WCS champion of South Korea after demolishing Squirtle 4-1 in today's grand final and will go home $10,500 richer.
After being thrown down to the losers bracket by Squirtle himself, Creator had to fight tooth, nail and other body parts to make it to the grand final match. After almost being eliminated on two occasions by the last KeSPA representatives, Creator reached the top three of WCS Korea after his victory against RorO yesterday.
A 2-1 scoreline versus Parting served as Creator's trampoline to the last match where he would meet StarTale's Squirtle - the protoss player that had dropped just a single map in his entire run through WCS Korea.
Two quick jabs and a finishing 4-gate uppercut later and the series was pushed into another Bo3 with Squirtle not looking like the invulnerable all-killing monster from the days before. His blink tech got him one map against Creator's fast expo but a clutch mid-game colossus timing from the Prime protoss hit the vulnerable third of Squirtle on Ohana and the series was to see its very final game on Daybreak.
Squirtle once again went blink as his tech of choice as opposed to Creator's phoenix opening and quickly and easily set up a contain at the gates of the Prime player, desperately to force in a blink into the main. Laying on the shoulder of the precision, patience and carefulness that made him famous, however, Creator kept dropping one forcefield after another until he got an immortal out. At that time Squirtle not only could not win a direct engagement but was also 10 probes behind - a deficit caused by the less than pleasant phoenix harass. Realizing the situation, Squirtle tapped out and Creator was crowned the WCS champion of his country.
To fill the 10-player quote for the Asia Continentals, two consolation matches were also played at the start of the playday. Polt and Puzzle folded under the pressure from the swarm agents and Curious and Miya will be the final two players to join their compatriots at the continental finals.
