SuperNova with a strenuous QF victory over Slivko

Korean terran and tournament favorite oGsSuperNova had a much harder time than he expected going into his quarter-final set against Slivko. Although boldly predicting an easy 3-0, SuperNova was in the face of defeat not one or two times, but eventually strained to pull off a 3-2 series wrap up.

On Metalopolis, Supernova abused the close by air position to execute a near-lethal reaper into banshee rush, crippling Slivko's economy severely, although the Russian did manage to somehow mine enough resources to both his drone count and army at reasonable levels. Yet, "reasonable" was not enough as Supernova executed his full-frontal marine/tank push and Slivko was brought to an early disadvantage.

Game two was played on Antiga Shipyard and saw Slivko stay on roach/infestor as hid mid-game composition and turtling towards a very quick 14-minute greater spire. Supernova, who meanwhile had the center of Antiga secured, was caught surprised and despite Slivko's initial hesitation, could not find means to drive away the scary as hell brood lord/infestor army.

Similar scenario developed on Terminus as well with Supernova applying a lot of multi-pronged early aggression while Slivko was sprinting towards this very quick BL tech that won him the second two. Once again, the Korean was unprepared at the first sight of corruptors and, ultimately, was pushed all the way back in the corner of one of his bases. In a shocking decision, however, Slivko decided to not engage and instead move back, regroup and strike Supernova's natural. That opened the way for the Korean to break out on the map and engage a base race and thanks to his higher dps, Supernova punished Slivko for his basic mistake.

The set was quickly tied on Shakuras as Supernova marched in for tank/marine attack but was caught unsieged while he was making a move towards Slivko's third. The zerg cleaned the opposition, taking a 70 supply lead and bullying down Supernova despite losing his greater spire to a small drop.

Supernova and Slivko spawned on Shattered Temple to play the final game and once again the close by air positions helped Supernova's style immensely. The Korean kept SLivko contained with unending drops, killing the lair during one of those and thus getting rid of the quick greater spire build that was tormenting him all day. This lead escalated into full and total domination for the terran, followed by GG of Slivko, who at one point literally had the series won.

- "I want to play Feast in the semi-finals," said Supernova in the post-game interview and he might just have to if the Belgian sensation defeats Real in the PvP that is currently on stream.
