Millenium's Ilyes "Stephano" Satouri came out with a formal apology to the One Nation of Gamers staff about forfeiting the grand final match against Kas at the ONOG Invitational. "I understand my mistake and all it means to the ONOG Staff, that's why I completely agree with their decision regarding my ranking," said Stephano in his statement.
January 29th was a busy day for the French Zerg as he was scheduled to play both the grand final of SCAN Invitational #3 (eventually winning it with a 3-0 against Grubby) and the ONOG Invitational grand final against Ukrainian Terran Kas, which he reached after defeating Illusion in the semi-finals.
Ultimately, however, the Stephano vs Kas match-up would not occur as the French Zerg forfeited the grand final shortly before it was to be played. Deric, the ONOG president came on with a statement on the next day, saying that Stephano had approached the administration stating that it was too late and with an "ultimatium that if he can't play another day he will forfeit the match", logging off before long.
Yesterday, Stephano stepped forth with a statement, offering his formal apologies to the ONOG organizers.
I wanted to apologize to ONOG Staff and all my fans. I didn't know that the event was casted live from a Barcraft, and also that so much people were watching my games in finals. I had played two competitions the same day and handling time was an issue. As a result, it was difficult to find a good compromise to satisfy everyone. Be sure that I understand my mistake and all it means to the ONOG Staff, that's why I completely agree with their decision regarding my ranking. I will do my best in the future to prevent this kind of situation.
After Satouri was penalized and demoted to 4th place, the ONOG Invitational did come to an end as his place in the grand final was taken by the bronze final winner Illusion. He went on to play Kas for the $1,500 first place prize and the Ukrainian terran would eventually triumph 4-1 to be crowned champion.
