Team mates Shawn "Sheth" Simon and Song "HerO" Hyeon Deok clashed in the open bracket round five for a direct spot in the championship. After a first game with a failed rush attempt by Sheth, the second game turned into one of the best series thus far at MLG Providence.

HerO's lion-hearted play style shone through in the second game, albeit being down with over 60 supply at one time. Sheth overall seemed to have the upper hand throughout the game thanks to stellar macro management and a consistent map control. At the 30-minute mark HerO was down on two bases against Sheth's maxed out roach/infestor army but instead of calling game he threw down ten cannons with the hopes of coming back in the game. With nice use of high templar, sentries and perfectly arched blink stalkers, he prolonged the loss a couple of more minutes. But in the end Sheth's zerg throngs were too overwhelming for the Team Liquid hero.

The last and deciding game of the breathtaking series saw HerO fast expand and hold his ground to move up to a well-rounded protoss ground force backed by colossi and a set of void rays. With a few micromanagement mistakes, HerO could grind his way slowly but surely to victory to advance to the championship bracket.
