Last week, votes were open to the public to decide the most popular game featured at Gamescom. With almost fifty games nominated, IGN is proud to announce that Valve's Dota 2 clinched top spot with a majority of the 250,000 votes casted.
Dota 2 was faced with strong competitors such as Battlefield 3 and Diablo III, two games which won the Highly Commended title. However, it was ultimately Dota 2 which rallied its supporters together to edge out the other games at the convention.
Promising a 2012 release, the DotA community can certainly look forward to see Valve raise the bar and bring the Dota lore to a whole new level.
It was a hard-fought battle, but we made it. Credit should be given where it is due, and it goes to all the fans and supporters of the game.
