Late last night, the two players to clash in the WB finals of the North American Battle.net Invitational came forth. Both SeleCT and Sheth defeated their opponents with a 2-0 and have strong chances to win a trip to Blizzcon.
Dignitas' SeleCT defeated who is considered one of the strongest non-Korean protosses Liquid`HuK with a convincing 2-0. SeleCT's macro and control of his bio army were impeccable and not even critical mistakes like forgetting to research ghost energy in the first set stopped him from taking the series. Those struggling with the execution of mid-game bio pressure should definitely check out set 2 on Tal'Darim Altar, where SeleCT demonstrated the power of medivac hop-and-drop control to negate HuK's forcefields and sweep the victory.
In the other semi-final, Liquid`Sheth dominated EGIdrA, winning two in a row. Sheth punished IdrA's greedy build on Shakuras with a 10-pool, dealing massive drone damage due to Idra's baneling nest being literally seconds too late. On Metalopolis, Sheth launched a roach timing attack, hitting Idra's natural before his infestor tech could kick in. Falling victim to the tiniest timing windows, Idra dropped down to the losers bracket.
Today is the final day of the NA Bnet Invitational. The winners bracket between SeleCT and Sheth will be followed by the Ro4 of the Losers bracket (Idra vs TT1 and HuK vs Kiwikaki).
