FruitDealer vs 
MaruFruitDealer was lucky to be placed against a relatively inexperienced and young player - the 14-years-old Maru. Maru's long absence from GSL (last seen in GSL Season 1 in 2010) became apparent when he choked as his 2-port banshee build on Fortress crumbled at the sight of the first mutalisks. His preigniter harass on Crossfire was just as unsuccessful and FruitDealer kept his place in GSL with ease.
Ganzi vs 
VanVanthGanzi opened the first set on Metalopolis with multiple stim pushes and eventually killed the third of VanVanth but, ultimately, his macro couldn't keep up with his losses and the defending protoss just overwhelmed him at the end.
Fortunately for all Slayers fans, though, Ganzi picked up his game and obliterated VanVanth in the following two sets, killing a crucial nexus on Tal'Darim and applying a deadly banshee pressure into tank/marine push on Xel'Naga Fortress.
Yoda vs TheBestOn Belshir Beach, TheBest went for a cute and innovative double-pronged aggression, attacking with preingiter hellions from the front while landing his vikings in Yoda's main, surrounding the enemy forces and winning the game.
But that victory was not enough for FXO's player. On Terminus, Yoda's hellion/tank/viking composition proved to be more effective than the thors of TheBest and the score was tied. TheBest finished himself on Daybreak when, after keeping an equal supply with his opponent for a long time, he miscalculated a big drop and crashed down in seconds.
Luvsic vs JjakjiAfter a long war of hunting down each other's expansions on Belshir Beach, both players found themselves sitting on two naked bases. Jjakji was the one to go on the offensive and with the last resources he had (and hence the very last reinforcements he managed to produce), he produced a tank/marine push too powerful for Luvsic to handle.
Similar was the ZvT scenario on Dual Sight - Jjakji kept chasing Luvsic's mutas around until, eventually, a direct fight was forced and the terran had barely enough marines to kill down the fliers and storm the zerg's bases for the 2-0 victory.

sC vs TremeOn Daybreak, sC hit a perfect timing attack, catching the protoss before storm could finish. sC killed the enemy's third and in turn took a fourth base for himself, sprinting to a lead that was just impossible to beat. He followed his first set victory with a constant 1-port banshee production and reinforced it with a tank/rine ground forces to punish the protoss, who was foolishly thinking he was safe to take his natural
Tails vs TaejaTaeja took a page out of sC's book from earlier that day and finished Tails on Metalopolis with a similar banshee/tank/marine rush while the protoss was expanding. And although he lost the second set on Belshir beach due to his macro slipping out during the multiple attempts of drops, Taeja's performance on Daybreak was immaculate. His bio drops sniped a council, a forge, two nexuses and countless protoss units to force a GG out of Tails.
Inca vs DongRaeGuDRG vs Inca was undoubtedly the heyday of the GSL August's debut. The two played an incredible game on Altar as, after a long series of successful infestor, roach and crackling drops, DRG had quite the upper hand. But Inca continued to stay alive and play a scrappy game, using whatever resources he had to go around the hordes of infestors and ultralisks and harass the few bases left for DRG with DTs, speedlots and void rays. At the end, however, DRG just grouped everything up and flooded towards Inca's sole mining base, leaving it in ruins and ending the set.
The second set on Antiga shipyard was way more one-sided. This time, DRG did not throw any advantage away and crushed the protoss with infestors and ultras.
Anypro vs JYPA PvP ended the long day of Code A; a short and one-sided one. On Belshir Beach, Anypro's 4-gate was completely negated by the defensive gateway wall-off by JYP; much like Anypro's DTs on Daybreak that met a pesky observer as they arrived at JYP's base. Thus, the TSL protoss snatched out two quick sets to advance to the Ro16.
