JoY heading to SMM

After a hard fought week, the boys from JoY secured their trip to SMM by winning CityPoint's DotA Tournament.

The team led by zDoG, who so happens to be part of GosuGamers' casting team, will be representing Australia in the prestigous SMM Grand National DotA Tournament to be held in December.

Their win was not an easy feat, having fought hard against GTFO in the best of five Grand Finals. In game one, JoY picked Ed aka 2ndChance's signature carry hero, Syllabear. He was able to keep pressure in top lane against Windrunner, making her unable to farm. While in mid, some well placed magic missle and fissures allowed Rhasta to get kill after kill on Shadow Fiend. In the end a overfarmed Syllabear won the game for JoY.

GTFO went for a fast push strat in game two picking heroes such as Enchantress, Broodmother, Syllabear and Venomancer. The push strat worked well, allowing them to take out towers after towers, gaining the advantage fast. JoY was set to make a comeback with their Doom and Dragon Knight combo but the fast push strat employed by GTFO along with a farmed Syllabear allowed GTFO to equalize with a 1-1 score.

In game three, GTFO picked Syllabear once again to carry the team. JoY on the other hand, took Medusa who hasn't been picked that frequently in recent times. From early to mid game, the advantage was with GTFO who managed to gank JoY with their roaming Ogre Magi. However, Medusa kept her composure and continued to farm for the length of the game. After getting Roshan, Medusa got a Divine Rapier and pushed towards the world tree and won them the game. Score is now 2-1 in favor of JoY.

Game four was by far the longest game that went on for almost 90 minutes. JoY took their famous Vengeful Spirit and Earthshaker support combo and Sniper as their carry. On the other side of the spectrum, GTFO took Dragon Knight as their main carry with supports such as Crystal Maiden and Rogue Knight. The game could have gone either way with almost every hero maxing out their inventory. Some bad item choices on GTFO's heroes combined with excellent teamplay by JoY allowed them to win the tournament with a 3-1 score.
