Destiny parts with compLexity: 'Refused to honor terms in the contract'

American Zerg player Steven "Destiny" Bonnell has parted ways with compLexity Gaming. This 10 days after the American organization's acquisition of ROOT Gaming.

compLexity Gaming management stated that Bonnell "did not want to be a part of a big organization and refused to honor any of the terms in the contract."

compLexity's decision to release Destiny from any and all contractual obligations was cemented by "polarizing opinions being expressed on his stream were in direct opposition the values compLexity has stood for since 2003."

Bonnell responded to the statement from the compLexity management with an honest answer. He calls his contract breach "a pretty douche move" but that he signed it in order to not mess up the opportunity for his team members in ROOT.

"It seemed like if I didn't sign, the deal would fall through for the rest of the team," said Bonnell. "I didn't want to mess up everyone's opportunities to move on with their career just because I felt uncomfortable, and there was nothing too objectionable in the contract, so I signed it".

Destiny further explains how he had to take a decision with half a day left til the acquisition's deadline, and that he wished that he would have had more time to really think about it.

"In the following days, I had more time to think about it, and the more I turned it over in my head, the more problems I found with the arrangement, and the more reasons I found not to be associated with a major business SC2 team, at least not at this moment in time. I talked a long time to Catz, and had a few words with Jason, and eventually settled on the conclusion that I wouldn't actually be joining."

Destiny has one of the most popular streams in the StarCraft community, with over 17,000 followers, even more than immensely popular Greg "IdrA" Fields. His popularity has risen due to his unique play-by-play commentary.
