IdrA was up 2-0 coming in to the losers bracket semi final. After three quick games and one long macro game, MC had turned it around to win 4-2.
MC successfully disposed his pool play bane with four straight games. After the match, he did a thumb down ceremony aimed at IdrA having left his booth.
A roach push could not botch MC on Shakuras Plateau, thanks to a void ray, a well placed force field and a quick response to a re-wall himself at the natural.
On Tal'Darim Altar, MC blocked off IdrA's main with three pylons to fill up with cannons behind. IdrA had no chance to break out having gone hatchery first - and admitted defeat.
Not even on Typhon Peaks IdrA's newfound early offensive rhymed well with MC's stellar defense. IdrA's pumped out zerglings and roaches smelled blood, and started to hack at MC's fast expansion. Though with some well placed force fields at the expansion, MC could hold off the zerg troops til the void ray managed to warp in. IdrA could then not do the damage he wanted and once again gave up the game.
"Zerg isn't supposed to beat Protoss"
MC, clearly wanting to boggle the mind of IdrA, asked at the start of the game if IdrA was angry. IdrA responded with his earlier cemented statements regarding Zerg versus Protoss.
- "Why would I be angry? Zerg isn't supposed to beat Protoss," said IdrA.
First macro game of the series
And for the first time in this match series, we saw IdrA and MC duke it out in a long macro game. IdrA quickly took four bases, while MC warped in void rays and phoenixes to eliminate three queens and a spore crawler at IdrA's main before it could be fended off with hydralisks.
Players then poked at each other in the middle. We saw some flanking going on from IdrA, actually eliminating a whole lot of MC's colossi. But even with some well-placed fungal growths and masses of hydralisks, MC's truckload of blink stalkers could little by little wear down the American Zerg.
And when MC added a dark templar to his large army, even sneaking one inside IdrA's mineral line, it proved to be the last nail in the coffin.
This puts MC in the lower championship bracket finals. But to reach the grand final he will have to play the loser of MMA versus Losira who will go at it in the upper bracket final.
