APDL officially launched

The first season of APDL (Asian Private DotA League) has just commenced hours ago with some attractive prizes in store. GosuGamers managed to contact league founder Stupidmirc for a quick interview about the new league and RGC Asia in general.

Welcome to the interview, Stupidmirc. First of all, what is APDL exactly?
-"Thank you. The Asian Private DotA League, as the name suggests, is an elite league for recognised professional Asian players to congregate and play together. Currently, the league is sponsored by a Malaysian company called DNA-S2K."

Many leagues like the one you described have come and gone. How is APDL different from the rest?
-"That’s an easy one. Previous leagues like AEDL and DP Asia succeeded in the beginning but slowly crumbled because of administrative incompetence and sponsorship instability. APDL has an army of dedicated staffs (handpicked by myself) to run this league as smoothly as possible.

I’m confident the pro players will flock to APDL because they are aware of the hard work the RGC admins have put it so far.

Just take SirRogers for example: he spends so much effort and time in improving RGC and spends money every month just to keep games running. I donated a bit in an effort to transform RGC as the leading dota platform in the future. There are also a growing number of kind users who donate money to boost our funds.

Co-founder TheOne and I also took great pains to secure a reliable sponsor like DNA-S2K. I'm confident it will continue to survive as long as we work as a team with my staff to make it a success"

Speaking of sponsors, how much prize money are we talking about here?
-"For starters, we’re giving away a total of US$300 to the winners, including US$50 for the player who plays the most games! We’re also in talks with gaming peripherals company Roccat for a couple of their high-end gaming mice.

I'm confident (APDL) will continue to survive.
Seems like you have it all covered. But how do you propose to maintain the high level play in APDL?
-"As you might have guessed, only established professional players get an automatic vouch. All other players need to apply for a vouch request in the forums and need the approval of at least 3 juries from our panel."

Am I right to assume that APDL is the brainchild of the larger RGC Asia organisation? What plans do you have for APDL, and in a larger context, RGC Asia in the future?
-"It doesn’t sound like much now but we plan to extend the number of servers we already have. By doing so, we will be able to increase the number of users. This equals to an increase to RGC popularity and finding sponsors wouldn’t be so hard then.

We plan to extend the number of servers we already have.
Moreover, RGC Asia and RGC as a whole are dedicated towards building a conducive gaming environment for all DotA enthusiasts, pro or amateur. For example, we have manner-based channels like (Asia) Community where skill is superseded by politeness and sportsmanship. We also have Inhouse and Clan War channels where the best can look for a challenge.

Last but not least, RGC is one of the few platforms which provide a fool-proof reconnection tool and server hosting. If this isn’t living by the principle ‘gamers come first’, I don’t know what does."

Thank you so much for that insightful interview. Any last words before we wrap up?
-"Yes. I would just like to point out that with the official launch of APDL earlier today, DotA fans can expect many more epic replays from APDL on GosuGamers. And RGC Asia is also sponsoring our very own home team to compete in this year’s SMM, so stay tuned.

And oh, I hereby pronounce the Asian Private DotA League open!"
