With HuK forfeiting the group stage of the €1,500 Razer StarCraft 2 GosuCup, GosuGamers set up a round robin qualifier for the losing semi finalists from the previous qualifiers.
Five out of the six took part, and after a best-of-one group stage and a best-of-three playoffs, Nick "DarkCell" Murray claimed the last spot in the upcoming GosuCup stage. This after defeating Aurélien "AureS" Sannier in the final 2-0.
This means that Group A will now consist of DarkCell, Mover, Beastyqt and Terran. Groups will not be remade, and the seeding numbers will not change. DarkCell enters the tournament as lowest seed.
Interview with Nick "DarkCell" Murray
- Razer GosuCup Last Chance Qualifier winner
Q: Congratulations on qualifying for the GosuGamers Razer GosuCup #2. How do you feel about getting a second chance to qualify due to HuK forfeiting his place in the tournament?
A: Very happy, I was bummed out that I wasn't able to go the distance for the other qualifiers, so a second chance to do so was welcomed.
Q: You got to the finals with an overall win/loss ratio of 4-1, beating players like Reyon, desrow, babyknight, aures and losing to BlinG, how did you find these games? Which was the hardest and which was the best?
A: Well overall the games weren't too hard, especially given I wasn't on my full hotkey setup and EU has delay. I think Babyknight was the best I played, and we had a fun game with a basetrade. Hardest was probably the game I lost to Bling because I haven't played that new Beach map before, and the delay cost me a few units.
Q: When you got to the finals you played Aures again in a Bo3 series, beating him 2-0 on MLG Shattered Temple and Xel'Naga caverns. What was your thought process during this series ?And did you think you would beat him again?
A: ZvT is my most confident matchup, so going into the series especially after having beat him earlier I was quite relaxed and certain I'd win. His TvZ didn't seem particularly strong either, so I knew I could play a bit more greedy which helps a lot in the mid-game.
Q: You are currently on the team eMazing Gaming, are you enjoying being on this team? And how did you practice for the GosuCup qualifiers if at all?
A: Well eMg is now been picked up by Quantic Gaming, so we're now Quantic Gaming. I've been with them since around November last year, and I've loved being with them the whole time. As for practicing, just the normal ladder/customs. There's not much to practice specifically for when it comes to tournaments like that, you just have to play solid.
Q: You will be playing against Epsilon.Mover for your first group stage match, how will you prepare for this game? Any particular thoughts about this matchup?
A: I haven't seen Mover play before, so I'll try and research his playstyle as best I can but in the end I'll probably rely on my normal ZvT. Not knowing the playstyle of your opponent can be a bit tricky when preparing, so I'm going to focus on minimizing any early game economy damage and fall back to solid macro for the mid/late game.
Q: Any last words to your opponents to your fans or anybody else? And are there any shoutouts that you want to do?
A: I plan to play my best and plan to win, so I hope people will enjoy watching me play. Also, shoutout to my team Quantic for being awesome, and my managers fograw and yutz for getting our team where we are.
