In the 8th and final SMM state qualifiers that was held in Selangor last weekend, eventual champions Gigabite.PP wowed the crowd with a near-perfect display of skill and flawless team co-ordination.

With only four slots left unfilled for the upcoming SMM Grand National DotA Tournament (SGNDT) Grand Finals 2010, it was not surprising when over 50 teams signed up to vie for a golden ticket to the Finals.

This year's Selangor state qualifiers was played yet again in the famous LAN shop, Ftz, whose team narrowly defeated MYM in the SMM Grand Finals in the group stages a year ago.

However, Ftz did not field a team this time around as they have already qualified earlier on in the state of Penang.

As soon as the competition kicked off, Gigabite.PP was the immediate crowd favourite as they steamrolled their competition with a brilliant show of teamwork and solid strategy.

Wei Xiang "papaxiong" Lee and Zhiren "Bouncy" Lin, however, were not too fortunate; their crew was overpowered by a relatively unknown team and were sent packing in a Round of 32 match. It was their second failed attempt to qualify for the Grand Finals.

The all-girls team Lz-Ladies also competed in their second ever offline tournament but their campaign was put to a stop by Penang state veteran team MaGe Pro.

In an electrifying finale, Gigabite.PP were declared champions after outplaying a reformed Tbun team, albeit with much effort. Meanwhile, SinO.RegaL put up a spirited fight and won against their opponents SRPK Gaming in the 3rd-4th placing match.

This also means that Gigabite, a LAN shop in Kuala Lumpur, will be represented by two teams in the Grand Finals: Gigabite (Perak State champions) and Gigabite.PP.

With the venue and exact date of SGNDT soon to be announced, the drums of war are already beating as teams are gearing up for the biggest DotA event of the year. Stay tuned to GosuGamers for the latest info on SMM'10.
