Groupstage of IEM NY.

Intel Extreme Masters was extremely succesfull in Germany and therefor decided to move over seas to the United States and are currently holding their first tournament in New York. Several qualification cups has been played to determain the best players for the main event which started yesterday.

Some of Americas finest choose to participate in this tournament and compete for $12.000 in prizes. The eight qualified players were divided into two groups of four where the top two advance to a elimination brackets.

Even though Fruitdealer, aka Cool was able to conquer GSL Season 1 in Korea there were no Zerg players in America able to even qualify for this event. Sadly for many but we still saw a lot of great games.

Both Fenix and HuK was able to win all three matches and secured themselves a first place in respective group. In Group A three players had one win and two losses and the last player to advance was decided by individual map wins. Drewbie had the best record and did with that advance. In Group B qxc took two wins secured the second place quite comfortably.

The semi finals will be played tonight at 20:30 CEST and will be broadcasted by ESL TV.
