Last weekend witnessed Nirvana.my being crowned champions after winning the MSI DotA Tournament Grand Final that was held last in Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur.
After a series of grueling state qualifiers across Malaysia, 14 teams made it to the Grand Finals for a chance to win RM 5,000 (~ 1,100 Euro) in prize money, Razer gaming gear as well as MSI products:
INC.Newcomer AEON.MuFc XGL LeaP GaM|ng Dg GnR Nirvana.My iRelax ReD iG-Ice INC Anything RoongJiet Team Ladies Excuse Gaming GIGA.SmDHowever, controversy struck as two of the qualified teams (Kingsurf-JJ and MagePro) were unable to attend the tournament at the last moment due to real life commitments. Instead, two wildcard teams, GIGA.SmD and GnR, were invited to fill the empty slots.
Meanwhile, state qualifier runners-up, Excuse Gaming, was given an invitation after winning MSI's Favourite Team Vote on Facebook. The last surprise came in the form of Team LZ-Ladies, which was given an auto-berth in the 16-team competition.
There were no upsets as all the seeded teams won their respective matches:

The games continued late into the afternoon as more and more spectators came to watch the matches live.

Living up to expectations, Malaysia's top two teams, Nirvana.my and AEON.MuFc cruised to the Final after knocking out iG-Ice and INC respectively. In the ultimate showdown, Nirvana's Wei Poong "YamateH" Ng was in the spotlight after decimating AEON.MuFc's line of defence with his terrifying Morphling.
