One of the first big live events for StarCraft 2 is happening this weekend and the first day has completed with a solid group of spectators, mingling with the pro gamers, amateurs, fans, and community members alike fighting to prove their skill in StarCraft 2.
The event, hosted by Green Forest Cafe in Ventura, CA, has been a great venue for this event holding about 100 gamers and spectators. We have seen some great matches between top players and up and coming stars, as well as a strong Terran showing.

The first day is completed, leaving us with four gamers left (three Terran), to complete for the $1000 grand prize and bragging rights.
The top 4 to be playing in a few hours are:

Let’s take a look at how they got there from the top 16 stage of the tournament:
Top 16 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Player 1 | Score | Player 2 | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Machine | 2 - 0 | Psyonic | ||||||||||||||||||||||
QXC | 2 - 0 | Andrew | ||||||||||||||||||||||
iNkA | 2 - 1 | SpoR | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Raydog | 2 - 1 | Reachthesky
LzGamer | 0 - 2 | Painuser | ||||||||||||||||||||||
NewPort | 2 - 0 | MoreFaSho | ||||||||||||||||||||||
KawaiiRice | 2 - 1 | iNcontroL
Duffman | 2 - 0 | Bubba |
Recap of KawaiiRice/iNcontroL, the games were fairly micro heavy with iNcontroL pushing for an early Void Ray build each game while only succeeding in game 1 and being thwarted by solid Viking/Marine counter in the next two games.

Round of 8
Top 8 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Player 1 | Score | Player 2 | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Machine | 2 - 0 | Psyonic | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Machine | 0 - 3 | QXC | ||||||||||||||||||||||
iNkA | 3 - 0 | Raydog | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Painuser | 3 - 0 | Newport | ||||||||||||||||||||||
KawaiiRice | 3 - 0 | Duffman |

Recap of Machine/QXC, the games were much closer than the final results imply. Machine was a macro machine expanding all over the map and keeping a steady harass up, but QXC (fresh off of the Gosu Camp) showing some incredible micro in each game by winning with multiple pushes at once, switching from mineral line drops while pushing the front, and doing multiple drops at once. QXC looks very strong going into the semi-finals.
Semi-finals and Finals will be played tonight starting at 5:30 PST, there will be a stream up as well with casting from Day[9] and Diggity.
Best of luck to the players in this final day of competition!
