Maycam Evolve didn't manage to score a single win in the Swiss Stage before bombing out in 15th-16th place.
Argentina's Maycam Evolve are the first Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) team to be eliminated from the M6 World Championship Swiss Stage after losing to China's KeepBest Gaming in their round three Elimination Match on Saturday (November 30).
Maycam Evolve only entered the MLBB esports scene back in August with a roster that primarily featured former players from Imperio, a team that competed in the M5 World Championship last year and finished 17th-18th. Maycam Evolve then earned their spot in M6 by winning the MLBB Professional League (MPL) LATAM Season 2 over RRQ Akira.
Maycam Evolve were among the 16 teams that started in the M6 World Championship Swiss Stage, where eight spots in the Knockout Stage were put up for grabs across eight days of competition. But despite their prior experience in MLBB's biggest stage, the Argentines still struggled in the Swiss Stage and went winless in the first three rounds.
Maycam Evolve's first opponents in the opening day of the Swiss Stage were Russian squad Team Spirit, which notably featured German star EXP Laner Mathaios “Kid Bomba” Panagiotis Chatzilakos. Spirit simply outclassed Maycam Evolve and dealt the Argentines their first loss of the Swiss Stage in just 12 minutes of action.
Day two of the Swiss Stage then saw Maycam Evolve take on Malaysian squad Team Vamos, who were looking to bounce back from losing in the previous day in front of their home crowd. Maycam Evolve once again couldn't keep up with their opponents in an 11-minute rout and were dealt their second loss of the Swiss Stage, which forced them to a round three Elimination Match in day three.
Maycam Evolve's third and final match of the Swiss Stage pit them against KeepBest Gaming, who also had a 0-2 record after losing to Indonesian squads RRQ Hoshi and Team Liquid ID in the prior rounds. Desperate to stay in contention at M6, Maycam Evolve put up their best performance of the Swiss Stage so far against their Chinese opponents. However, it was far from enough as KeepBest Gaming still secured the 2-0 series sweep in back-to-back 14-minute games and knocked out Maycam Evolve.
KeepBest Gaming will live to fight another day in the fourth round of the Swiss Stage. Meanwhile, Maycam Evolve have bombed out of the M6 World Championship in 15th-16th place.
The M6 World Championship will take place from November 21 to December 15 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and is split into three distinct phases: the Wildcard Stage from November 21 to 24, the Swiss Stage from November 28 to December 5, and the Knockout Stage from December 7 to 15.
Sixteen teams have qualified for the Swiss Stage after a gruelling Wildcard Stage. All participants will fight for their lives in the tournament, as only eight slots are open for the Knockout Stage. For everything you need to know about the M6 World Championship, check here.
