Twelve teams remain in the MPLI 2022

Day two of the ONE Esports Mobile Legends Professional League Invitational 2022 would see more round one action – and more eliminations.

Having waved goodbye to four teams on day one, the MPLI 2022 continued with day two, which came with another four eliminations. Today would see three series that pit the Philippines up against Indonesia – a regional rivalry that has existed since the beginning of MLBB’s professional scene. With tournament lives on the line, this would be another epic day of MPLI 2022 action, as the first round came to an end.

An upset to start the day

In the first instance of PH versus ID we would have ECHO taking on EVOS Legends. The PH squad was amazing in its recent regional MPL event, losing only to Blacklist International in the grand finals to take an emphatic second place. For EVOS, it was the complete opposite, as they struggled to find their footing and slumped to an unimaginable seventh place finish. However, it was the White Tigers who eventually came out on top, causing a massive upset, with the return of Ferxiic into their roster.

Bren continue to build

Bren Esports have been working their way back to the top for some time, and today they would have their work cut out as they faced Bigetron Esports. After the team showed that they had finally found their footing during MPL PH S10, today was another brilliant showing, even though the series went the full three games. The Robots seemed unable to keep up with Bren’s aggression and eventually the series went to the PH squad – tying up the regional rivalry tally for the day at 1-1.

TODAK wipes the Slate

Taking a break from the rivalry, we had TODAK and Slate Esports ready to battle across the Land of Dawn. While The Swordfish are definitely well-known throughout the MLBB-sphere, Slate is a new name – but for an impressive roster. Having rebranded EVOS SG to Slate Esports, the team would be looking to follow in their ID sister squad’s footsteps. However, going up against one of the best Malaysian powerhouse teams would never be an easy task, as Slate fell to a swift 0-2 defeat.

Aura conquer Onic

The final series of the day would also be the final series of the first round, as well as the one that would decide if PH or ID were the stronger region for now – with ONIC PH and AURA Fire fighting it out. It was ONIC who seemed to be in control of the series after the first game, but once AURA dropped a game, they figured out their opponents. Over the next two games, AURA dominated the map, cutting down ONIC and claiming a huge 2-1 victory.

With day two of the MPLI 2022 now over, and a total of eight teams now eliminated, we look ahead to round two, which begins on Friday, November 4th. We will see another four eliminations, with the teams now fighting to faceoff against the MPL regional winners for MY, SG, PH, and ID.
