Alter Ego falter in the penultimate week at MPL ID

Having gone unbeaten since the opening weekend of the Mobile Legends Professional League Indonesia Season 8, Alter Ego have fallen in Week 7.

MPL ID Season 8 has almost reached the culmination of its Regular Season, with Week 7 coming to and end over the past weekend. While the teams heading into playoffs are all but decided, there were some serious upsets in Week 7, which started right from Day 1 – and continuing through to the end of the final series.

Alter Ego’s perfect run crashes

Alter Ego have shown that they want to finally get their hands on a MPL trophy, coming so close before and missing out at the final hurdle. The team have weathered every storm in the first six weeks of the Regular Season, but, whether it was the latest patch or just the team becoming complacent, everything went wrong. Unable to control Bigetron Alpha in their first series, a team who have had some major ups and downs in the season, AE’s streak came crashing down.

Unfortunately, things went from bad to worse, as Rex Regum Quan Hoshi were their second challenger for the week, and with the form that they have been in, AE stood no chance. Their losses aside, AE are still assured a playoff spot after a fantastic few weeks, but they have to hope that their sudden drop in form is not going to see them falling behind in playoffs again.

Onic’s bite

Although somewhat shaky at time, Onic have definitely been one of the teams to watch in the MPL ID Season 8 Regular Season. The team have seen their amazing jungler, SANZ, reaching the pinnacle of the player kill statistic, overtaking the likes of Alberttt and Celiboy. Not only has SANZ dominated, but himself, Drian and Butsss all find themselves in the top 5 of the Kills/Deaths/Assists (KDA) statistics – showing that it takes a team to dominate in MLBB.

Onic begun their week with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Bigetron Alpha, as the Robots used their win over AE earlier in the week to bolster their spirits. Onic then went into the final series of the weekend, taking on the mighty EVOS Legends – and recorded a superb clean sweep over the reigning champions. With Geek Fam and AE as their final week opponents, Onic will be hoping that they can remain on this high and push forward through into the playoffs.

The Rebellion falls

Having one great week in MPL ID is never going to be enough to pull any team through into the playoffs, and unfortunately for Rebellion Genflix, that’s all they have mustered so far. While taking games off teams is one thing, winning a series is what the teams need to move forward. Having beaten Bigetron Alpha in Week 5, RBG never showed any more moments of brilliance, but this is to be expected.

As newcomers to the league, RBG have built up some magnificent form and will certainly come back stronger in the next season. Sadly, for this season, the last we will see of them will be in their final two series against Aura and Geek Fam, respectively. Maybe they will manage to find another victory in Week 8, but it won’t be enough.

At the end of the day, we are shaping up for a massive final week at MPL ID Season 8, as the teams do their best to fight for their seeding into playoffs. For Alter Ego, although they lost their unbeaten streak, they could just be resting themselves as the first team to be confirmed for playoffs. It will be interesting to see what changes in the final week of the Regular Season which begins in just a few short days.
