M5 World Championship: RRQ Akira blast their way into M5

RRQ Akira has taken over the Brazilian MLBB scene for the last few years in many forms, and this year, they return to the M-Series grounds.

Brazil has quickly become one of the best regions in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, with teams constantly showing up in strong ways to the M-Series and within their region too. Having just won both the MPL BR Season 5 and the Liga Latam 2023, the Brazilian squad mimics the successes of their organisation’s once-successful Indonesian team – Rex Regum Qeon. Time will tell if they can keep the success going or if they will fade away.

RRQ Akira is one of the strongest teams in South America, if not the absolute strongest, and it has shown. Each and every player on the squad has shown brilliance over the years, whether it has been under this organisation, or previously under Keyd Stars. Having only begun seeing MLBB grow into their region in late 2021, the team has been there since day one, fighting their way through to the top. While it began with second-place finishes, they quickly rose up through the ranks and got to where they are now – returning to the M-Series.

The M-Series

As mentioned previously, this is definitely not the first time that RRQ Akira will be showing up to the M-Series, having made a fantastic showing at the M4 World Championship – finishing in seventh/eighth place. For more than half the team, this is their third M-Series appearance, having appeared once under Keyd Stars and twice now with RRQ Akira. However, the two other players were only present at M4, meaning they only had two appearances – which is still a fantastic experience going into the tournament.

The formula

One of the ways in which Akira has absolutely slaughtered their opponents has been through the Gold Lane, with Gustalagusta being an absolute menace with multiple heroes. From the likes of Beatrix, Wanwan, and Bruno, all the way through to Harith and Brody, the player shows off excellent skills. This is going to be one of the ways other teams can take advantage of RRQ Akira and come out on top – but if they get ahead, they will be unstoppable.

Group C may seem like it could be a walk in the park for some teams, but it is anything but that, with the current three teams all having a high chance of taking the group by storm. Group B also still awaits one more team, which will come through the upcoming Wildcard Tournament. It will be interesting to see just what RRQ Akira brings to the M-Series again.
