What are we watching this week - League of Legends

What are we watching for LoL - LEC Winter Split final day, LCS Super Week, and more!

This week is going to be crucial for multiple regions in League of Legends.

There is no better way to start the week than with some League of Legends from across all four of the major regions. And to kick things off will be the final day of the LEC Winter Split regular season to determine the top-eight teams in the playoffs. Aside from that, today will also mark the start of the second week of games for the LPL.

Later in the week will be the start of week three for the LCK as well as the LCS, who will be having its first ‘Super Week’ of matches. This will include an additional round of games for each team in the group stage. With all four regions now fully in the thick of things, it is only the LEC that will be moving on from its regular season matches.

Speaking of which, there has already been plenty of drama in the EU region with the likes of Karmine Corp failing to make it past the regular season after they suffered seven straight defeats in their LEC debut. And given its final round of games later today, it will determine the eventual standings for the playoffs later this weekend.

LEC Winter Split - Week 3 Matches

The opening match of the final week will be a crucial one for Rogue and GIANTX as both teams need a victory in order to move on to the next round. Rogue will be able to force a tiebreaker for the eighth and final spot while GIANTX can finalise its playoff spot with a win. And given the current four-way tie for fourth, the match-ups between Fnatic and Team Heretics as well as Team Vitality against MAD Lions KOI will be exciting as it will determine who will move up and who will move down. Lastly, SK Gaming's match against G2 Esports also holds significant value as it will finalise the second and third seeds.

LCK Spring Split - Week 3 Matches

So far it has been all Gen.G Esports in the last two weeks after the undisputed LCK champions went 4-0 over the weekend. While it's still very early into the spring split, Gen.G has already been able to defeat some of the top teams to take the number one spot in the group stage. Close behind is both T1 and Hanwha Life Esports, two teams that have been fairly decent so far with only one loss under its belt. There's also a close chase between four teams for the third seed that include Dplus KIA and KT Rolster to name a few.

LPL Spring Split - Week 2 Matches

After just one week of games, the LPL is already off to a strong start despite its live stream only showcasing about slightly above 60 per cent of its matches. There are still eight weeks worth of games to get through with plenty of hurdles that have yet shown itself but so far the likes of Ninjas in Pyjamas, Weibo Gaming, and Bilibili Gaming have got off to a perfect start with two wins in two. Last year's LPL champions JD Gaming have had a decent start as well winning their first game of the split. Both Top Esports and LNG Esports have also had good outings with one win and one loss so far.

LCS Spring Split - Super Week

The first ‘Super Week’ of the LCS Spring Split will be taking place in a few days, which will see all eight teams play an additional round of games. The matches will take place on Friday instead of the usual Saturday and will go on throughout the weekend. Cloud9, FlyQuest, and NRG have had great starts to the split so far with three wins to go with just one loss. But on the other end of the table, it’s a three-way tie at the bottom with newcomers Shopify Rebellion currently stuck alongside Dignitas and Immortals.
