Worlds 2022: JD Gaming steamrolls Evil Geniuses for a win

JD Gaming has scored its first win against Evil Geniuses in the Group Stage.

JD Gaming has turned up at Worlds 2022 with a big win against Evil Geniuses, showing one of the stronger performances we’ve seen from Group B today. EG might have had a shot in the early game here, but JDG’s junglers were simply unmatched in this game. This is the LCS’ third loss of the day overall.

JDG set the tone by striking First Blood a mere 40 seconds into the match against EG’s Vulcan, who might’ve overextended a little bit and gotten punished with the strength of an entire team leaping onto him. He ran for his life, but just didn’t have a chance of survival. EG’s Kaori got his revenge by slaying Hope just a minute after, proving that the LCS team wasn’t willing to give JDG such an early lead.

20 minutes in, this could’ve easily been EG’s game. Both teams were trading kills back and forth and while EG looked slightly worse off in skirmishes, the LCS team was picking up dragons left and right with little issue whereas JDG had 0-3. A few more minutes into the match however, and we started to see that the dragons weren’t sufficient to prop up EG in this match. JDG’s junglers were picking up kills and racking up gold, and EG was falling behind considerably.

JDG’s Hope rolled into a Double Kill in the endgame here, annihilating EG and allowing his team to march into an undefended base and earn the win. EG put up a good fight here, but JDG made fierce plays and just wouldn’t be taken down in crucial teamfights. Tomorrow, JDG will take on DAMWON Gaming, while EG goes up against G2 Esports.
