Worlds 2022: Evil Geniuses silences LOUD to register their first win on day 2

The LCS finally gets going.

Evil Geniuses finally got going at Worlds 2022 with a much-needed victory against LOUD. The LCS squad suffered a terrible loss yesterday but came back swinging today. This will be their first of two games of the day with their second coming up later against Beyond Gaming. LOUD is now 1-2 with only two games remaining to decide their fate at their first international event.

EG had to work for that victory though as LOUD did not go quietly. The CBLOL champs refused to be silenced and were the much better team to start the match. It was Leonardo "Robo" Souza who picked up the first blood on Gnar. Soon after, both teams decided to trade support kills in the bottom lane. More kills followed in the ensuing minutes with EG able to push LOUD back.

The first real five-versus-five came in just under 10 minutes with both teams clashing in the river. It was LOUD, however, who came out on top in that engagement, killing two of EG without any response. It was a bloodbath in professional LoL terms as both teams were constantly going for the jugular and successfully finding kills wherever possible.

It was an extremely tight match for most of the early and mid-game as both teams refused to let up and give over the momentum. A scattered teamfight after LOUD claimed their second drake saw EG lose out after getting picked off one by one. The Brazilian squad's crowd control proved instrumental in kiting EG around the river whilst poking and prodding away from afar. With the momentum of the game constantly swinging between both ends, it was a toss-up on who will eventually take the game.

Sadly, both Robo and Thiago "TinOwns" Sartori got found out in the bottom lane and were quickly executed by EG. But while that was going on, the rest of LOUD tried to sneak the Baron from under EG's noses. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough damage to take him out in time, which allowed EG to take over. LOUD soon got team wiped and lost the Baron in one fell swoop; a rough day in the office if one might say so.

This was all EG needed to further push the envelope. With their backs against the ropes, LOUD were forced to contest under EG's conditions. This saw both teams clash once more in the river with EG corralling their opponents into a tight passage before swinging around from the side to kill them off. By that point, LOUD was holding on for dear life as they soon got team wiped again. Muhammed Hasan "Kaori" Şentürk on Kalista as well as Kacper "Inspired" Słoma on Maokai were instrumental in EG winning three key teamfights in a row.

From then on, it was a straight march down into LOUD's base with no one left to defend it. EG managed to turn their fortunes around, finally picking up a win to keep themselves in contention. They will have a chance to go even further with their match against BYG coming later today. LOUD will be kicking themselves, knowing that a win was there for the taking.
