Likely due to recent EUW server instability, Riot has increased the ranked three season rewards cutoff date to 11 November, 2013, giving players an extra two weeks to grind through queues and achieve their desired tiers.
It has been understood for about two months since Riot's announcement that season three ranked queues would freeze on 31 October, 2013, and players would receive ranked rewards corresponding to their highest tier in solo queue, competitive 3v3s, and competitive 5v5s. Since May, however, EUW players have been experiencing frequent instabilities, resulting in Riot shutting down the servers repeatedly. Riot has acknowledged this as "unacceptable" and has sought methods of compensation. Community dissatisfaction with the issue has even resulted in a petition for more RP rewards, receiving more than 60,000 signatures in five days.
As a result, when players began asking for a ranked rewards cutoff extension, it seemed like today's extension announcement would be inevitable. Riot is extending ranked play until 11 November, 2013. Players have two extra weeks on all servers to keep grinding LP and achieve season goals. This means, for some players, that these two extra weeks might secure them their ranked summoner icons, coveted loading screen borders, ward skins, or this year's Victorious Elise skin. This skin has already been released for preview on the PBE and might serve as a fine motivator for last minute ladder climbers.
