Blizzard's eSports director: "There will be observer mode in Hearthstone"

Kim Phan, director of eSports in Blizzard, talks to Michal "Carmac" Blicharz about her work in Blizzard, managing the future of Blizzard games and developing Hearthstone as eSport.

Observer mode has been a recurring demand from Hearthstone community members and tournament organizers ever since the game made its first steps into becoming competitive. With smaller cups happening on a weekly basis in addition to King of the Hill series studio-produced tournaments with big prize pools, the eSports part of Blizzard's CCG is growing more vibrant by the day which makes the absence of a spectator feature a hindrance organizers have to work around.

In an interview with IEM director Michal Blicharz, Kim Phan of Blizzard shot out the good news - observer mode is high on the development list and will come after game's official release.

"There's a long list of features we want to see [in Hearthstone] from eSports point of view," say Phan. "One of the things that is high up on that list is observer mode and this should come shortly after the game is officially released".
