Ebanks, Moorman, and ElkY finish 1,2,3 in $10k 6 Max WSOP event

Joe Ebanks, the 26-year-old Stow, Ohio native won the $10,000 buy-in Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em championship at the Rio on Thursday beating a stellar field for $1,158,481, the largest prize of the 2011 WSOP so far. He bested top online poker pro Chris 'Moorman1' Moorman who finished in second for $716k, his second runner up finish at the 2011 WSOP and Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier who finished in third for $447k after winning a 7-Card-Stud bracelet earlier in the series.

Ebanks' previous biggest cash at a WSOP event was less than $20k, so the over $1 million payday was quite the live tournament statement for a player who has had mostly online success.
“This is what it’s all about,” Ebanks said afterward, nearly superfluous to the notion that he had just become a millionaire. “When I first started playing poker seriously six years ago, my goal was to get to this stage, and now I’ve achieved it.”
With the third place finish, Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier is now one of the top contenders for the WSOP Player of the Year award. It was Chris Moorman's fifth cash of the 2011 WSOP and he too finds himself amongst the leaders for the coveted Player of the Year award.

The $10,000 buy-in Event #46 No-Limit Hold'em Six Handed Championship attracted a formidable field of 474 entrants generating a $4,455,600 prizepool.

2009 WSOP Main Event winner Joe Cada finished in 26th place for his deepest WSOP run since winning the Main Event two years ago. Last year, Cada failed to cash in any WSOP events. This year he has a 144th place finish in a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em event worth $3,779 to go along with his $29,228 for the 6 max finish.

Final table finishes of the $10k NLHE 6-max Championship:

1. Joe Ebanks $1,158,481
2. Chris Moorman $716,282
3. Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier $447,074
4. Tristan Wade $292,866
