Pre-order bonuses, a Digital Deluxe Edition, and more gameplay details have been revealed.
God of War: Laufey will officially open pre-orders on 29 September, Santa Monica Studio has announced, alongside details of its pre-order bonuses and a brand-new Digital Deluxe Edition. Through PlayStation’s blog, the studio also revealed new gameplay details focusing on Laufey’s combat abilities.

God of War Laufey weapons and gameplay
Laufey, also known as Faye, has been an important character in the God of War universe. She is the second wife of series protagonist Kratos and the mother of Atreus, having died before the events of the original 2018 game.
With God of War: Laufey, fans will finally get to see her character up close and in depth, accompanying her through the mysterious afterlife known as the Everywhen. The game picks up immediately after her death at the beginning of God of War.
Ahead of the game’s pre-order launch, Santa Monica Studio revealed further details about Laufey and her combat abilities. Laufey’s Serpent Bow was revealed, a new weapon she can use in the Everywhen, which can be seamlessly switched to and from her normal attacks.
The weapon features a Precision mode, which allows a full-aim for more powerful attacks. Meanwhile, Hip-fire mode provides a half-aim, giving Laufey greater flexibility and allowing her to perform more close-range attacks. The Serpent Bow comes with several arrow types, including rapid-fire, explosive and multi-target variants. It can also be equipped with different types of Scales, which not only change the weapon’s appearance but also provide unique perks.
The Digital Deluxe Edition includes an exclusive Scale, the Dark Alchemy Bow Scales. Beyond her new weapon, Laufey’s Blade and Catalyst can also be customised to suit players’ preferred play styles.
God of War: Laufey launches globally on 16 February, 2027 exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
