Fans have finally received a positive update regarding the development of the sci-fi action-adventure, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, as Naughty Dog has announced the conclusion of its performance capture shoot for the game.

It is a rare major update for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which began development quietly in 2020 before being officially revealed through a cinematic trailer at The Game Awards in December 2024.
Last year, we received further details about its storyline alongside information about its cast. The latest milestone confirms that Naughty Dog has completed its performance capture shoot for the game by the end of August 2026, which could indicate that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is entering the final stages of development. However, we can still expect the studio to take its time polishing the final product, which has been touted as its most ambitious and expansive project yet.
While the release date for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet remains undisclosed, many are anticipating another major update on the game during the upcoming PlayStation State of Play, which is scheduled to take place on 3 September at 6.00 AM PDT / 3.00 PM CEST / 9.00 PM SGT.

Naughty Dog is renowned for its critically acclaimed and successful games, including The Last of Us and the Uncharted franchise, as well as older iconic experiences such as Crash Bandicoot.
The studio has traditionally focused on a single franchise for an extended period, and this approach has paid dividends given the success of each series. Naturally, the introduction of a fresh new project has attracted considerable attention.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet would be Naughty Dog’s first original IP in 11 years since the release of The Last of Us in 2013, and has been described as the studio’s biggest and most expansive project yet.
The title started development in 2020, but wasn’t publicly revealed until its cinematic trailer debuted in December 2024. The trailer revealed its sci-fi action-adventure setting, combined with 1980s-inspired aesthetics, including its music, technology, and colour palette.
The game is led by female protagonist Jordan A. Mun, a space bounty hunter searching for her next target, which leads her to the mysterious and isolated planet of Sempiria. Despite warnings that nobody has been able to leave the planet for more than 600 years, Jordan ventures there for reasons unknown. The trailer gave fans a glimpse of her red-bladed weapon, a large robotic enemy, and her acrobatic movement as she approaches her target.
While information about the game remains scarce, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann has revealed more about its deeper lore. In Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the story revolves heavily around faith and religion, with the studio creating around 2,000 years of religious history for its fictional world, including an original prophet associated with Sempiria. Naughty Dog wants players to feel “lonely and lost” when exploring the ominous environment and mysterious history of the planet.
The cast members revealed include Tati Gabrielle as Jordan A. Mun, Kumail Nanjiani as Colin Graves, a member of the Five Aces, Tony Dalton as another member of the Five Aces, Halley Gross as AJ, Jordan’s agent, Stephen A. Chang as a member of the Five Aces, and Ashley Scott as another member of the Five Aces. The cast also includes Troy Baker, Merle Dandridge and Robin Atkin Downes.
