SEGA and Atlus held a Persona 4 Revival Broadcast livestream earlier today (19 June), showing off fresh gameplay for the upcoming remake. During the livestream, viewers got a sneak peek at the remake’s biggest changes–ranging from a bump in graphical fidelity to all-new combat mechanics that were not present in the original game.

Persona 4 Revival

What are the biggest new additions in Persona 4 Revival?
Persona 4 Revival is a fairly ambitious remake of Atlus' 2008 RPG, inclusive of all of its accompanying re-release (Persona 4 Golden)’s content. That means the remake will include Golden’s new Social Links, like Marie and Adachi, along with its additional songs, like Time to Make History.
The game’s combat has also gone through some pretty radical changes for this remake. Mechanics from later Persona games are being added to Persona 4 Revival, like the Baton Pass, which allows characters to switch turns after hitting an enemy weakness.
There’s also an interesting new mechanic called ‘Send Flying’, which allows players to launch status-afflicted enemies into other enemies, spreading the status effect around. The party can also enter a buffed-up state called ‘Prime Time’, where attacks cost zero resources and ignore enemy resistances.
Upon finishing off Prime Time, the party can also launch a massive ‘Series Finale’ attack, dealing tons of damage much like All-Out Attacks. Additionally, attacking enemy NPCs in dungeons has also been altered–now, players can also guard against their attacks, and attack them again to gain an advantage in battle.
The rest of the livestream also confirmed more changes to Persona 4’s social gameplay. Now, all Social Link interactions and minor events will be fully voiced by the game’s all-new voice cast, which has re-recorded all of the game’s lines with slightly altered dialogue.
The game’s soundtrack has also been remixed and rearranged, with new versions of Your Affection and Heartbreak, Heartbreak shown off in the livestream.
Persona 4 Revival will launch on 18 February, 2027.
