Pokémon Pokopia's next event brings Jirachi, while expansion pass artwork hints at new features

The next Pokopia event arrives next week, but the expansion pass's artwork may have stolen the spotlight.

Pokémon Pokopia has unveiled its next limited-time event, giving players a chance to encounter the Mythical Pokémon Jirachi while also offering a glimpse at what may be coming in future updates.

The new event, titled Wish Upon a Jirachi, begins on 23 June at 5am local time and runs until 8 July. As with previous events, players will be able to meet a special Pokémon and collect exclusive themed furniture for their settlements. The announcement was made on the official Pokémon X (formerly) account on Thursday (18 June).

How does the Wish Upon a Jirachi event work?

In Wish Upon a Jirachi, players will gather a dedicated event currency called Shining Wishing Notes before trading it for “items inspired by the starry sky”. Of course, Jirachi will serve as the event's featured visitor, joining the growing list of special Pokémon that have appeared in Pokopia since launch.

Could Shiny Pokémon be coming to Pokopia?

On top of the event, newly-released artwork for the US$34.99 Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass may have already piqued the interest of fans.

As first highlighted by Pokémon news website Serebii, the promotional image appears to show several Pokémon species that are not currently available in the base game. If those appearances are more than decorative, players could see new Pokémon added to Pokopia as future content rolls out.

The image appears to feature several Pokémon that have yet to appear in the base version of Pokopia, potentially expanding the selection available to players in future content drops. It also showcases familiar Pokémon, including Peakychu, wearing cosmetic accessories not currently available in the game.

While Pokopia already allows players to customise their Ditto avatar with different outfits, the artwork suggests that broader Pokémon customisation could be on the way. Accessories resembling fairy wings, bowties, and other decorative items can be seen throughout the promotional image.

The artwork also includes a series of sparkles that closely resemble the icon, traditionally used across the Pokémon franchise to denote Shiny Pokémon. Shiny variants are not currently available in Pokopia.

Nintendo has said that more details on the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass will be announced in the future. The first content drop is scheduled for this summer, with additional updates planned through 2027.
