What is Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse about?

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is the latest entry in Konami’s long-running Castlevania franchise. This time, Dead Cells developer Motion Twin is working with Evil Empire to bring the new game to life, featuring a new female heir to the Belmont lineage.

The game is set in Paris in 1499, as Dracula’s forces launch a deadly invasion of the city. A new member of the Belmont family will have to fight with whip in hand to stop them, and in doing so, keep Dracula’s castle from rising. It looks like the legendary vampire himself will step into the fray when that happens, so the stakes are high.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse’s latest trailer runs through the basics of its combat and exploration, which are fashioned after classic 2D entries in the franchise. Several iconic figures of history will also appear as enemies in this game as “corrupted” foes, such as Joan of Arc, who appears to be a bossfight.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will launch sometime in 2026.
